The Transformational Travel Council (TTC) has been honored with the 2022 Meaningful Tourism Award. The prestigious award — revealed during the Meaningful Tourism Panel at the ITB ASIA in Singapore — was given by the Meaningful Tourism Center (MTC) to the TTC for its leadership and efforts in developing a more regenerative, sustainable, and responsible tourism for a better future of the industry globally.

“We are delighted to see how many stakeholders around the world have started to create new approaches to tourism,” says Prof. Dr. Arlt, CEO of the Meaningful Tourism Center, which is a Hamburg, Germany-based network of organizations supporting efforts and initiatives to move towards a better tourism development and providing quality, benefits and satisfaction for all stakeholders involved. “The task is not to ‘balance’ the different stakeholders’ interests but aligning them in a way that benefits and satisfies the interests of all stakeholders. The companies and organizations selected can consider themselves as being among the avant-garde of tomorrow’s tourism development.”

The TTC is a collective of businesses and organizations which understand the power and delicate environmental, cultural, social, and emotional impact of tourism. The TTC is delighted to become among the first recipients of such award following its annual TRANSCEND event held in Slovenia earlier this month. TRANSCEND is an exclusive gathering of like-minded TTC community members of travel designers, travel journalists, destinations and industry leaders gathered to learn and develop new skills to pioneer thoughtful principals, practices, and tools to impact business and all aspects of tourism.

“In this time of distraction, disorientation, and disconnections, an award that celebrates meaning, is one we’re extremely proud to accept,” says the TTC’s co-founder and CEO Jake Haupert. “Our transformative workshops for travelers, travel professionals, and places are intentionally designed to cultivate more meaning in their lives and in their work as we believe these impacts are far reaching. We thank the MTC and strive to continue the good and important work of meaningful travel.”
