With the highly anticipated border reopening of Western Australia on 3 March 2022, and after nearly nine months in the stables, the iconic Indian Pacific and its wedge-tail eagle motif is returning to the tracks on Thursday, 10 March 2022, taking guests from Adelaide, South Australia and crossing the Western Australia border into Perth.
To herald the occasion, Journey Beyond, the owner and operator of the Indian Pacific, is offering special deals on specific departures, with 25% off all Platinum bookings throughout the month of March; and 25% off Gold on the 13 March Perth to Sydney departure (T&Cs apply).
The Indian Pacific will make its first full journey between the oceans it is named after on Sunday, 13 March 2022, leaving Perth, bound for Sydney. This transcontinental crossing is simply spectacular as it traverses diverse landscapes from mountain ranges to arid plains, vibrant cities, rocky valleys, and subtropical savannahs. There is no better way to experience the breath-taking interior landscape of Australia than on this all-inclusive rail journey between Sydney and Perth (and vice versa).
Peter Egglestone, Chief Revenue Officer for Journey Beyond said it is a milestone for the business to be operating the transcontinental rail journey once again.
“The Indian Pacific is an epic adventure, crossing three state borders and three time zones, which makes it a remarkable journey, but also one that has been heavily impacted by state border restrictions,” Mr. Egglestone said.
“Now that we will be able to travel once again from New South Wales through South Australia into Western Australia and vice versa, we could not be happier. Our rail crew is beyond excited to take to the tracks again, doing what they do best—sharing special moments and shaping lasting memories for our guests.”
