Next month, Singapore will allow quarantine-free entry to people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Germany and Brunei.
This decision was made as part of Singapore’s plan to gradually reopen its borders, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).
Visitors from the mentioned countries can avoid the isolation requirement beginning September 8 if they test negative in four polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, border restrictions will be gradually eased for all travel from Hong Kong and Macau beginning Saturday.
The announcement came shortly after the Hong Kong government cancelled its air travel bubble plan with Singapore. The two territories take different approaches, according to Singapore’s transport ministry. According to the health ministry, Singapore will also test home isolation for fully vaccinated people who are infected with coronavirus and have mild symptoms. As of Tuesday, 77% of Singaporeans had received two vaccinations.
It intends to begin vaccinations for children under the age of 12 in early 2022, after safety and efficacy issues have been thoroughly investigated, according to health minister Ong Ye Kung. According to Lawrence Wong, Finance Minister and co-chair of Singapore’s coronavirus task force, it is critical to reopening the country with caution.
He stated that risk tolerance and risk attitudes differ from one country to the next. He also stated that the country’s goal is to survive the pandemic with as little damage and death as possible while returning to normalcy as soon as possible.
