Debuting May 1, 2021 after a landmark transformation, Arizona Biltmore, A Waldorf Astoria Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Abby Murtagh as general manager. A renowned hotelier, Murtagh will usher in the groundbreaking reimagination of the sprawling 39-acre Frank Lloyd Wright inspired desert gem.

As general manager, Murtagh will oversee general operations and development of the next chapter in the legendary resort’s history. She holds over two decades of executive leadership experience within heritage lifestyle, hotel and entertainment brands including Hilton Hotels & Resorts, The New York Palace, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Hershey Entertainment Resorts.  As executive director at The New York Palace, she oversaw a $35 million food and beverage renovation of seven onsite restaurants and bars. She then went on to become the resident manager at the Waldorf Astoria New York where she managed all guest room operations and launched a New York Times-reviewed dining concept. Prior to joining Arizona Biltmore, Murtagh served as general manager of the Hilton Salt Lake City Center where she successfully led the downtown convention hotel through its highest levels of profit in 2019 and remained open through the pandemic.

“Abby’s dedicated experience enhancing top-tier hospitality brands along with her ambitious expertise will undoubtedly propel this iconic property forward while also preserving its storied legacy, says Dino Michael, senior vice president and global category head, Hilton Luxury Brands. “We are thrilled to have Abby at the helm as she takes the Arizona Biltmore to new heights.”

As one of the only existing luxury hotels influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright and near the base of the breathtaking Phoenix Mountain Preserve, Arizona Biltmore will reemerge on May 1 following a substantial property-wide enhancement. Since closing its doors in March 2020, Arizona Biltmore has undergone significant work to retain its almost century-old legacy while reimagining the guest experience in an undeniably fresh, modern, and uniquely Biltmore way. As a 1929 art deco desert masterpiece, the grounds offer exceptional guest experiences amidst 707 plush pet and family-friendly guestrooms and refreshed standalone luxury cottages as well as 200,000 square feet of indoor / outdoor space. New additions to the resort also include a new sophisticated adults-only pool, a reimagined family pool complete with a brand-new 65-foot triple water slide tower, a new spa and fitness facility and vibrant new dining options ranging from casual to upscale.
