Bettenay’s in Margaret River has launched a new winter experience, Toasty Tastings by the Fire that includes a guided tasting of four estate wines, a nougat-inspired liqueur and toasting French-style nougat over an open fireAfter tasting Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sweet Dreams Red and Bettenay’s speciality Nougaretto liqueur, huddle around the custom-made fire pit and get ready for a new taste sensation.

Product Development Manager Danica Bettenay said toasting nougat is similar to toasting marshmallows in that both go golden brown, form a crust and go gooey inside, but that’s where the similarities stop.

“Nougat toasted by the fire tastes quite different and absolutely better than store-bought marshmallows,” Danica said.

“Guests love the experience, it’s so wintery and warming, and toasting nougat is not something many people have done before.

“As soon as guests arrive, they comment on how beautiful and tranquil it is here with the lake and the tall-timber eucalyptus trees and when they see our custom-made fire pit, it immediately draws them to it.”

Accompanying the toasted nougat is a hand-warming cup of hot chocolate infused with Nougaretto, and also available is a non-alcoholic hot chocolate.

Toasty Tastings by the Fire experience is available at Bettenay’s Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 11am and 1.30pm and costs $25 per adult and $12 per child.
