Destination marketing organisation, Fukuoka Prefecture Tourist Association has reappointed GTI to drive its sales, marketing, PR, social and digital activities in Australia, effective immediately.
Located in the northern part of Japan’s southern island of Kyushu, Fukuoka offers a fascinating mix of ancient culture and contemporary cosmopolitan discovery. Not only the gateway to Japan’s third largest island, Fukuoka is well known for its hot springs, breath-taking scenery, outdoor adventure and incredible cuisine.
With international restrictions set to lift and airlines booking travel as early as December 2021, there is a great opportunity to capitalise on the country’s growing popularity within the Australian market and reinforce Fukuoka’s position as a vibrant destination, offering a variety of experiences that Australian travellers are seeking as international travel returns.
“We are delighted to continue our representation of Fukuoka at this exciting time, a testament to the great opportunity that lies ahead and the success of our marketing activity to date,” said GTI managing director Sarah Anderson.
“In 2019, Japan was the fastest growing outbound destination for Australian travellers, and we know a significant proportion of travellers to Japan are repeat visitors looking for destinations outside of the gateway cities.
“When international borders reopen, Australians will be keen to explore new destinations and Fukuoka’s continued promotional activity in Australia will showcase the wide variety of attractions available in the city and wider prefecture. Across its beaches, buzzing city centre and verdant forests, Fukuoka offers an incredible wealth of delicious cuisine, nature escapes, and urban adventure, desirable to Aussie travellers.”
GTI will promote Fukuoka by working closely with the travel trade industry through product development and destination training, and for consumers, by driving awareness and education of local experiences in Fukuoka through targeted digital, social media and public relations activity. Ultimately, aiming to increase visitation to the city of Fukuoka and surrounding prefecture when international borders reopen.
