In a strategic move that underscores its commitment to global expansion, Spanish hotel giant Meliá Hotels International has announced the addition of two new luxury properties in Thailand, elevating its portfolio in partnership with Asset World Corporation (AWC) to a remarkable six facilities. This development marks a significant milestone in Meliá’s ambitious drive to redefine hospitality standards in Southeast Asia.
Gabriel Escarrer, CEO and Chairman of Meliá Hotels International articulated the group’s vision, “The expansion not only broadens our geographical footprint but also strengthens our longstanding alliance with AWC, setting new benchmarks in luxury and sustainable tourism.”
The newly unveiled properties include Meliá Pattaya City and Paradisus Jomtien Resort. Slated to begin operations in December 2024, Meliá Pattaya City will undergo extensive renovations to transform the existing three-star Grand Sole Pattaya into a beacon of Spanish elegance and coastal charm. The redesign will incorporate a seafood-centric all-day dining venue inspired by a local fisherman’s village, alongside innovative bars, MICE facilities, and family-friendly amenities like a kids club and a theatre.
Meanwhile, Paradisus Jomtien Resort, expected to launch in 2028, is poised to become a landmark on the Pattaya skyline with its 43-floor tower offering panoramic ocean views and 698 luxurious rooms. Emphasizing Meliá’s dedication to eco-friendly practices, the property will feature a dynamic, sustainable façade enriched with vertical tropical greenery. The resort will also boast exclusive rooms with outdoor plunge pools, multiple dining options, a state-of-the-art gym, spa, and extensive convention facilities.
Mrs Wallapa Traisorat, President and CEO of AWC, highlighted the synergistic partnership with Meliá, stating, “Together, we are set to transform Pattaya into a world-class luxury and sustainable tourism hub. This collaboration enriches Pattaya’s cultural and economic landscape, aligning perfectly with our vision for a progressive, integrated lifestyle community.”
The strategic expansion by Meliá is part of a broader vision to enhance its global presence in significant tourism destinations, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Phuket, and now, Pattaya. These efforts are not merely about increasing the number of properties but are aimed at creating deep, memorable connections with locales, offering guests unparalleled experiences in luxury and relaxation.
This venture also reflects Meliá’s proactive approach to sustainable tourism, aligning with global environmental goals while catering to the eco-conscious traveller. By introducing properties like Paradisus Jomtien Resort, Meliá is pioneering the concept of luxury eco-tourism in Thailand, promising a blend of indulgence and eco-responsibility.
As Meliá Hotels International continues to innovate and expand, its latest developments in Thailand are set to redefine luxury travel in Southeast Asia, promising an amalgamation of cultural richness, sustainable practices, and unrivalled hospitality.
