Tourist eVisa: All Australians need a visa for Sri Lanka in the form of an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETC), which can be purchased online. A Tourist eVisa costs USD50, grants double entry to Sri Lanka, and is valid for 30 days. There is no charge for children under 12.
Flights: Sri Lankan Airlines flies direct from Melbourne to Colombo daily and from Sydney to Colombo four times weekly.
Jet Lag: Sydney is 4.5 hours ahead of Sri Lanka, so jet lag is minimal.
Top Tip: Even though Sri Lanka is a small country, different parts are best visited at other times of the year. To head west, on the south coast or the hills, go between December and April.
The east coast and north are better from May to November.
