Best will continue to use its global platform to highlight even more excellent restaurants and bars worldwide – through the 50 Best Discovery platform and its 50 Best lists, special awards and content series.

The world’s most renowned chefs, restaurateurs and culinary stars gathered in London this past July for the 2022 edition of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants at the historic Old Billingsgate market, marking the 20th year of the awards. The 50 Best organisation’s role in promoting restaurants and showcasing culinary talent remains more critical than ever, continuing to support the hospitality sector by inspiring diners to seek out exciting gastronomic experiences, whether near or far.

2023 marks the first time the world-renowned celebration will be held in Valencia, hosting the most important annual gatherings of chefs, restaurateurs, media and culinary icons in the gastronomic calendar. 50 Best will take the opportunity in 2023 and beyond to amplify diverse voices and positive messages, foster progressive discussion and cross-border collaboration, and encourage more extraordinary gastronomic discovery and exploration.

An extensive event programme hosted throughout the city will culminate in the much-anticipated awards ceremony when The World’s Best Restaurants 2023 ranking is revealed. Following the 20th anniversary of the awards in 2022, we were reminded once again of our aim to celebrate great restaurants and great chefs, but more than that, to unite the global hospitality community and bring people together through food. The world’s most renowned chefs will also impart their knowledge to local culinary students through a 50 Best educational event.

Best works with professional services consultancy Deloitte as its official independent adjudication partner to help protect the integrity and authenticity of the voting process and the resulting list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 awards ceremony this June, in collaboration with our host destination partner, Visit Valencia and other Tourism Valencian institutions. Best Restaurants 2023 awards, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, will be hosted in Valencia in, Spain, in June 2023.

William Drew, Director of Content for The World’s 50 Geranium, will now join the Best of the Best list of former No.1 restaurants and, therefore, will not be eligible to appear in the ranking for 2023 and beyond unless it meets the requirements to classify as a new restaurant.
