To help relieve emotional pressures faced by women, the Women’s General Association of Macau and Melco Resorts & Entertainment co-organized an inauguration ceremony for the “Feel Better – Women’s Personal Development and Support Program” followed by a mental wellness seminar on April 13. The program aims to provide citizens with a diversified range of psychological counseling and assistance through various emotional wellness support services in order for members of the community to build a positive and healthy home in Macau.

The event took place at 11am at Studio City and was inaugurated by Dr. Alvis Lo Iek Long, Director of the Health Bureau (SSM); Members of the Women’s General Association of Macau including President Ms. Lam Yuen Mui; Vice-Chairwoman Ms. Chio Ngan Ieng; Vice-President Ms. Un Sio Leng and Psychology Director and Psychotherapist of Psychotherapy Center of the Women’s General Association of Macau Mr. Henry Lao Chan Fong; Melco senior executives including Chief Advisor Dr. Kent Wong; Senior Vice President, General Manager of Altira Macau & Mocha Mr. Raymond Lo and Senior Manager, CSR Ms. Angelina Lei. Other attendees of the event included Vice-President and Deputy Secretary-General Ms. Chong Ling Ling and directors of the centers under the Women’s General Association of Macau, as well as colleagues from Melco. Following this, Mr. Henry Lao introduced details of the program and delivered the seminar to raise awareness of personal and family mental wellness for overall health and wellbeing.

Ms. Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Chairman and CEO of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, said, “Melco has collaborated with the Women’s General Association of Macau for many years. This year, we are pleased to join hands once again to co-host ‘Feel Better – Women’s Personal Development and Support Program’, an initiative to address women’s mental wellness issues. To live well and ‘feel better’, one must be proactive, encouraging and caring towards others. Abundant social resources are also of huge importance. We believe that the program will provide a professional platform of communications to help the community feel better.

In her speech, Ms. Un Sio Leng, Vice-President of the Women’s General Association of Macau expressed appreciation to Melco for its longstanding support for women’s issues and being able to work together once more on the “Feel Better – Women’s Personal Development and Support Program”. The program co-hosts aim to help relieve service users’ emotional distress and safeguard citizens’ overall wellness through personalized development support sessions, art therapy groups and community mental wellness seminars. Looking ahead, the Women’s General Association of Macau will continue to assimilate mental wellness activities into the community through various counseling and treatment services, and seminars and workshops for diversified information promotion so that a mental health safety net will be available for persons from all walks of life in order to cultivate harmonious family relationships within the community.

Mr. Henry Lao said the program’s directives are to help citizens “feel better” by helping them look after their emotions through timely and adequate support for better recovery and overall health. The program also aims to strengthen citizens’ mental wellbeing through preventive measures adopted via daily life, as well as the enhancement of mental health robustness and the reduction of stigmatization for those seeking help within the community, and to ensure mental wellness is viewed in a positive light so that everyone can live strong and with a sense of direction.
