Three of the top five Australian universities with Sugar Baby students are in Melbourne, SeekingArrangement announces today in its annual ranking of Sugar Baby Universities.

The cost of living for instance, in Sydney too is high. On average one pays AUD 600 per week for a one-bedroom apartment including utilities. Sydney is Australia’s most expensive city and one of the costliest cities worldwide.

New data by the Australian Bureau of Statistics says that while overall the inflation rate has decreased in the past decade, the reason many people have not seen an improvement in their cost of living is that prices of non-discretionary, or necessary items, have on average risen nearly 4% since 2012.

What could this possibly mean for university students who are typically still unemployed?

It comes as no surprise that there are now nearly 200,000 Australian Sugar Babies on SeekingArrangement and many of them are still in school.

Leading the pack is Monash University with 257 Sugar Babies, while the University of Melbourne trails closely behind with almost 200 Sugar Babies, followed by Macquarie University and University of Sydney both reporting 169 Sugar Babies, respectively. Deakin, Griffith and the prestigious RMIT Universities are also among the Top 10 Universities in Australia where Sugar Babies attend.

“Australia’s high cost of living has always been a subject of contention, and this is a serious concern among university students who struggle to take up part-time jobs to cope financially thanks to hectic course schedules,” says Brandon Wade, CEO and Founder of SeekingArrangement. “Sugar Daddies and Sugar Mommies offer mentorship and comfortable lifestyles to their Sugar Babies. ” he further opined.
