Cruise Traveller’s special new ‘Grand Sounds of America’ river cruise package will see Australians sail on a luxurious paddle-wheeler up the legendary Mississippi, Ohio and Cumberland Rivers from New Orleans to Memphis and Nashville in a grand celebration of the musical genres which the rivers gave birth to including jazz, country, rock’ n’ roll, blue grass and the blues.

Guests will be able to dance their way along America’s iconic rivers of rhythm, with all the music styles embraced onboard as part of the daily entertainment, and also ashore where America’s great music is embedded in local Southern culture.

Available in Australian dollars, the exclusive, 20-night ‘Grand Sounds of America’ package begins on November 27, 2021, with a free flight to Los Angeles for a night’s stay and a flight on to the jazz and blues city of New Orleans for another night’s accommodation.  Guests then board the elegant, 166-guest paddlewheeler, American Duchess, for a 14-night, double-cruise itinerary stretching all the way from New Orleans to the home of rock’n’roll in Memphis and on to the birthplace of country music, Nashville.

Along the way, guests will journey through living history and take in the majesty of the mighty Mississippi – one of the world’s great rivers – as well as grand Victorian mansions, historic cotton plantations, centuries-old oak trees, charming river towns, American bald eagles, Civil War battlefields, the Graceland home of Elvis in Memphis and museums and recording studios that celebrate the greats of American music.

The cruise ends in Nashville for a two-night stay including a music-themed tour of the city and concert and backstage tickets to the famous Grand Ole Opry country music show. Guests then fly home free to Australia.

The inclusive,  20-night ‘Grand Sounds of America’ package begins on November 27, 2021, and includes the 14-night cruise, four nights of accommodation, guided, hop-on-hop-off shore excursions during the cruise, locally-inspired gourmet meals, wine and beer with dinners onboard and also gratuities onboard. Fares are from A$6995 per person, twin share – a saving of A$3875 per person.
