The Australian Federation of Travel Agents today announced an innovative, scientifically-based 4-week mental wellbeing and resilience program that will benefit up to 3000 members and their family and friends in the industry. With the travel agent community the first to be financially impacted by the pandemic and currently navigating the ongoing uncertainty around travel, mental wellbeing of members remains a primary focus for AFTA.

AFTA has partnered with the Mind Body Brain Performance Institute to fund a mental wellbeing program for 1,000 agents that reinforces AFTA’s commitment to members and provides scientifically proven mental and emotional support to enhance resilience and mental wellbeing. In addition to the 1,000 free places, each participant receives two guest passes.

Director of the Institute, Paul Taylor, is an Exercise Physiologist, Nutritionist and Neuroscientist and is currently completely his PhD in Applied Psychology. He has delivered resilience, leadership and executive performance workshops to companies including Flight Centre, NAB, CBA, J&J, PWC, BUPA, Medibank and the Australian Military.

The Resilient Mind program is a 4 week challenge that blends resilience education with online tools, videos, workouts, a social feed and habit forming daily rituals scientifically proven to help participants focus on what they can control and keep a positive mindset.

To participate, agents can download and complete this form with the names of their agency colleagues who can complete the challenge as a team. Teams can complete daily rituals to receive points and climb the leaderboard.

Everyone who registers will receive a FREE Family and Friends invite so they can share the experience and draw on the support of loved ones in forming new habits.

Challenge registration opens today and closes Wednesday 2nd September. To register, complete this form and return to Joanne Arancibia at jo@afta.com.au.

The program will run from  Monday 7th September to Sunday 4th October. On Monday 7th September, agents will receive an email with personal log-in details to access the online platform.

Paul Taylor, Director Mind Body Brain Performance Institute (who is providing the programme on a heavily discounted basis):

“I’m a ‘pracademic’, which means I take the academic research and make it real and practical – so the Resilient Mind program gives travel agents access to proven methods that allow participants to transform the scientific knowledge we provide into everyday practical actions that they can take to be more resilient.”

“Resilience is a skill that can be learned and the Resilient Mind program bridges the knowing/doing gap to delivery positive outcomes that make a real difference.”

Quotes attributable to Darren Rudd, AFTA CEO:

“AFTA is very proud to be launching this program for free to 1,000 members with each participant benefitting from another two guest passes which brings total impact to 3,000. This is possible thanks to both Paul Taylor kindly supporting travel agents through a heavily discounted program and to the very much appreciated contribution from an anonymous donor.”

“We selected the Resilient Mind program based on its scientific foundation and proven methods that deliver results. Resilient Mind is a fun and proven way to boost your resilience and we look forward to doing just that together as we take on this 4 week challenge.”

“Once the program concludes, I look forward to sharing the results with the industry.”
