Spread the love

“I like Hemingway, although I suspect that were he alive today we would have much to disagree on! I don’t hunt, abhor it. http://www.tourismlegal.com.au/But judging a man out of this time is wrong. So I enjoy reading Hem, and see between the passages of death for the love we both share of the Green Hills in the shadow of Kilimanjaro.” Dereck Joubert

KENYA IS WHERE THE AFRICAN SAFARI WAS BORN (SAFARI MEANS “JOURNEY” IN KISWAHILI) AND IT REMAINS THE PERFECT DESTINATION FOR UNPARALLELED GAME-VIEWING, CULTURAL INTERACTIONS AND UNIQUE ACTIVITIES.

From the classic savannah and awe-inspiring wildlife viewing of the world renowned Maasai Mara, the lush Chyulu Hills with their stunning views of the snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro, Kenya is the finest experience for first time explorers and multiple repeat visitors. Kenya’s diversity of landscapes is reason enough to come to see us, but it is also the perfect destination for an active traveler with all the horseback riding, hiking, biking and of course for searching for the iconic wildlife that Africa is famous for.

In Kenya there is something for everyone and the we have hand picked destinations within these magical rolling plains to best represent the country and what it offers in a unique Great Plains Conservation way.

Exclusivity is important to us, so we have 3 private safari camps in the Maasai Mara region with access to over 100,000 acres of some Africa’s more prolific wildlife area and we are in the 3 major conservancies adjoining the Reserve. This provides the best of all worlds, moving from one location to the next, and having access to the Maasai Mara Reserve itself, and then escape to our pampering and caring privacy again.

ol Donyo Lodge is built out of lava rock in the foothills of the Chyulu Hills one of the most important ecosystems in southern Kenya. It is on landowners by our Maasai community partners. Our involvement in ol Donyo came about largely to protect the wildlife migratory corridor between Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks, a route that provides safety for some of the last great tusker elephants in the world. ol Donyo Lodge also epitomises that perfect blend between wild Africa, with lions and cheetahs in good numbers and the community that takes care of the land. This settles beautifully under the stars, and in the shadow of Kilimanjaro, Hemingway’s favourite place on Earth.

Visit our local authentic Maasai community, people who are relative of our staff and partners. “One highlight for me here, is a sunken hide we just designed and put in. It places you safely at elephant toenail height and almost at touching distance.” Sleep under the stars on the roof of your room, in our star beds, and dream of your next safari.

“Kenya is perhaps best known for the wildebeest migration that travels into in the Maasai Mara sometime between June and September each year, but for me, its the times outside of that, when a green carpet of grass stimulates a flush of young babies, from warthogs to gazelle, crisp skies when the wonderful lady Kilimanjaro looks down at us.”
