Discover the sights and sounds of America on a music-themed cruise along the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers – the birthplace of many popular music genres – and for a limited time, the American Queen Steamboat Company is offering Australians savings of up to US$1000 per couple on an eight-night ‘American Music Cruise’. The deal is valid for bookings made by December 31, 2019.

Beginning in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 3, 2020, the new eight-night American music cruise and stay package allows guests to take in the array of sights and sounds unique to the river regions while discovering the evolution of music from the various regions and quaint charms of small-town America. While onboard the 166-passenger American Duchess, a luxuriously reconstructed paddle-wheeler, guests will be joined by country music icon and writer of ‘God Bless the USA’, Lee Greenwood, for a special performance. Also included in the package is a complimentary stay at the Brown Hotel in Louisville at the beginning of the cruise.

As the steamboat makes its way towards its final destination, Clarksville, Tennessee, guests will enjoy a host of onboard entertainment and focused lectures highlighting the music of the regions as the Duchess steams past. The cruise embraces the sounds of New Orleans jazz and the Delta blues to the rock and soul of Memphis and the home-grown country music melodies of Nashville. Guests can also enjoy a number of complimentary hop-on, hop-off shore excursions, including museums, historic houses, beautiful gothic churches, art galleries and entertainment precincts. Highlights include a visit to Fort Donelson National Park in Dover, the distillery-filled city and historical mecca of Owensboro and a memorable visit to the hometown of Abraham Lincoln at Brandenburg – home to his museum, his birthplace and the Lincoln Square.

While cruising the Ohio and Tennessee rivers, guests can opt to retreat to the onboard Lincoln Library with its ornate bookcases and plush chairs, or enjoy the fitness facility, business centre, movie theatre grand lobby, or fine dining restaurants.

The eight-night package includes a night’s free accommodation pre-cruise, the seven-night river cruise, guided, hop-on-hop-off shore excursions, an unlimited beverage package and, water and speciality coffees throughout the cruise. Onboard gratuities and port taxes are also included. The stay and cruise package begins on May 3, 2020, and prices start from US$2898 per person, twin share, a saving of US$300 per person, while those opting for the veranda, deluxe or loft suites with private balconies can save US$500 per person, with packages beginning from US$5298 per person, twin share. Offer ends December 31, 2019.
