Yeppoon Lagoon
Woo’ing with spectacular ocean views, this thrilling, chilling, water-spilling adventure playground includes a shallow children’s play area, an informal lap swimming area and a swim-up infinity edge overlooking the Keppel Islands. If you dream of tempering any signs of stress by a pool while the kids swim from dusk until dawn, the Yeppoon Lagoon is not to be missed.
Underwater discoveries
Dive into the region’s best snorkelling as you experience our magical Southern Great Barrier Reef. With loads of protected bays that provide safe swimming all year round, you can create your own snorkel adventure, or join a thrilling guided tour with Keppel Explorer to show you some of the hottest places to spy colourful coral, curious turtles, inquisitive sharks and loads of other amazing underwater life.
The Keppel Islands, including Great Keppel Island and Pumpkin Island offer stellar basecamps to begin your snorkelling journey. Stay for a night or longer at Great Keppel Island Hideaway, Great Keppel Island Holiday Village or book your own private slice of paradise at Pumpkin Island. All snorkelling equipment is available for hire at Great Keppel Island Watersports and Activities. Keppel Dive also operates from Great Keppel Island, so grab your scuba equipment and dive in!
Not keen to get your feet wet? Freedom Fast Cats’ glass-bottom boat tour is a quiet, relaxed alternative for those wishing to view the wonders of the reef and spectacular marine life from above the water. This cruise includes a glass bottom boat coral viewing tour, along with insight into the history of Great Keppel Island.
Animal encounters
Ready for some animal adventure?
Get up close and personal with approximately 4000 crocodiles at Koorana Crocodile Farm. From March to May, crocodiles hatchlings embark on the world and entrance prices include the opportunity to touch and hold a specially trained crocodile. Koorana Crocodile Farm is a commercially operated crocodile farm and croc restaurant located half an hour drive from Rockhampton or Yeppoon.
At Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary, you can cuddle a Koala, hold a Crocodile, Snake or Lizard, play with Birds, interact with playful Monkeys and hand feed Kangaroos! There is a swimming pool, paddling pool and barbecue facilities which are all included with admission.

Keppel Kraken
Taking pride of place on the Yeppoon Foreshore, the Keppel Kraken is a water play feature quite unlike any other. With a mythical sea creature centrepiece and set against the spectacular backdrop of Keppel Bay, Yeppoon’s newest tourist attraction is the perfect place to soak up some sunshine on the beautiful Capricorn Coast.
