Just in time for this year’s Summer Streets, Albert Adria has introduced two ice creams which will be served outside Adria’s dessert-only restaurant, Cakes & Bubbles at Hotel Café Royal. Guests will be able to try Adria’s mouth-watering mango sorbet and a brand new chocolate ice cream this Sunday 21st July as Regent Street becomes traffic-free for its annual Summer Streets events. In collaboration with Veuve Clicquot, the pop-up bar will provide guests with the perfect refreshment with which to enjoy their sweet treats as they watch the world go by from the outdoor terrace.

Ice creams

Adria’s take on a classic chocolate soft-serve is incredibly rich and indulgent. Adria has put his own twist on the original by using a dark chocolate made from Chuncho cacao, an incredibly rare tree grown in Peru’s sacred Cusco valley, at a height nearly unheard of for growing cacao which produces notes of delicate flowers and grass in its unique flavour. Whipped to a light and smooth texture, it is then finished with the addition of small chocolate pieces to create a perfect stracciatella-like ice-cream which will no doubt be impossible for any chocolate lover to resist.

The second ice cream creation on offer this summer is the wonderfully refreshing mango sorbet. Made on the same morning to ensure the dessert is as naturally fresh as it can be, the sorbet is made purely from the sweetest Indian Alphonso mangoes which makes it a great dairy-free option for the health-conscious or vegans. The sorbet is topped with a spiral of pink raspberry puree and air-dried strawberry crisps to finish.

Ice cream sandwiches

Also on the outdoor ice cream menu will be the Stroopwaffle, an ice cream sandwich made up of Stroopwaffle caramel wafers filled with spiced Speculoos cookie butter ice cream and sticky toffee sauce. The Stroopwaffle, as well as the strawberry and milk ice cream sandwich, are both popular with kids and make a great treat for the young ones after a long day spent out in London.

Other dishes

From the terrace, guests can also try Cakes & Bubbles classics including Albert Adria’s famous cheesecake, a twist on the classic made from Baron Bigod Brie, hazelnut and white chocolate. The chocolate corks, chocolate and coconut flower and mini chocolate and passion fruit tart will also be available to order from the terrace.

Drinks

A wide selection of Champagnes and sparkling wines by the glass and by the bottle are available, well priced for accessibility and to allow for exploration of the varied producers on offer. The selection ranges from English sparkling wines and Spanish Cavas, to sweet wines hailing from Hungary, Portugal and Italy.

The Cakes & Bubbles ice-cream bicycle will be serving the chocolate ice-cream (£5), mango sorbet (£6) and Stroopwaffle (£8) from 12-6pm on Sunday 21st July, Sunday 18th August and Sunday 15th September.
