Spread the love

Junee celebrant Amber Williams says there’s been a huge spike in wedding bookings over the next 12 months with small intimate ceremonies proving popular this year compared to the bigger ones.
“Couples are also no longer booking a year or more in advance for their wedding instead many are opting to start planning for a wedding in a few months time.”
Lovebirds – and their close ones – are arriving in record numbers to enjoy the region’s chocolate, strawberries, flowers, cheese, whisky, gin … and ghosts!
As we approach Valentine’s Day, here’s a list of the most romantic things to do in Junee, the love nest of NSW:
Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory
Nothing says love like chocolate and pizza, and Australia’s largest organic chocolate factory has managed to combine BOTH with chocolate pizza wheels for World Pizza Day on Wednesday, February 9, and Valentine’s Day on Monday 14 February. The limited-edition chocolate pizza wheels weigh over half a kilo each and are made with either dark, milk or white chocolate, and filled with lollies, fruit and nuts, including chocolate-covered strawberries, almonds and macadamias, marshmallows, honeycomb chocolate freckles and rocky road. https://www.juneelicoriceandchocolate.com/
Little Triffids
This tiny backyard flower farm in North Wagga and has blossomed into a micro flower farm and that creates dreamy florals, delivers unique and seasonal gift bouquets and runs flower arranging and flower growing workshops, using local food, drink and giftware suppliers, throughout the year. https://littletriffids.com.au/
Coolamon Cheese
Cheese-lovers can sample and snap up the factory’s award-winning cheese, which is fullbodied and has that unmistakably rich mouth-feel of the milk, sourced from nearby farms in the pristine Riverina. Coolamon Cheese Co has also pioneered handcrafted lactose-free cheeses.https://www.coolamoncheese.com.au/
Bidgee Strawberries and Cream in Wagga
Relive your childhood by picking strawberries at the hydroponic strawberry farm. Putting sustainability and quality produce first, the farm uses integrated pest management to minimise chemical use, and also has Damara sheep, water buffalo and buzzing bees. It’s a true paddock to plate experience! https://www.bidgeestrawberriesandcream.com.au/
Corowa Distilling Company

Its e-vouchers can be used anywhere too, from chocolate, single malt whisky or lunch in the courtyard. Vouchers can be sent directly to the person you’re gifting to. https://corowadistilling.com.au/
Monte Cristo Homestead
You expect things to go bump in the night on Valentine’s Day (!), but for those fascinated with the supernatural, a trip to Australia’s most haunted house will give you the willies.
Creepy tales of murder, torture and suicide surround Monte Cristo, a late Victorian homestead in the country town of Junee, and as well as offering daytime tours, the venue also offers dinner, nightly ghost tours and bed and breakfast. https://www.montecristo.com.au/
Borambola Wines
Who doesn’t love a cellar door on Valentine’s Day? The family-owned business specialised in 100% locally grown and produced beer and wine including, red, white, sparkling, Tuckerbox Hoppy Lager beer and apple cider. As well as winetasting, visitors can also sample the goods from Riverina Gin, where every ounce of Riverina Gin is handmade in a copper still using a traditional one-shot distillation method. https://borambola.com/
Junee Roundhouse Railway Museum
Do the locomotion at the Roundhouse Railway Museum! One of the few surviving, working railway Roundhouses in the Southern Hemisphere, the Junee Roundhouse Railway Museum preserves the former Junee Locomotive Depot.
