Beginning with Picasso’s Montmartre, from 20 September, 2021 guests can discover Paris in the company of a knowledgeable, passionate guide, who will transport them back in time to soak up the rich atmosphere of this historic city.

With lively dialogue, in one-on-one or small private groups, guests will be able to stop and enjoy the scenery as well as absorb juicy anecdotes about the chosen legendary artist’s life and career, which will remain with them long after their stay.

On Picasso’s Montmartre trail, they will find out…

  • Why Picasso’s masterpiece ‘Les Demoiselles d’Avignon’ remained rolled up and neglected in his studio for years
  • How he paid for his drinks at the Lapin Agil
  • Why he was implicated in a theft at the Louvre

Each itinerary will be adapted to the guest(s), so that the trails can cater for both intrepid explorers who wish to cover the sites and fiendish amateurs who may have visited Paris before but never delved deeper.

Franka Holtmann, general manager for Le Meurice, said: “These trails will take our love of art out onto the historic cobbled streets of Paris, to see the city through the eyes of some of the world’s greatest artists. Inspired by Picasso celebrating his wedding feast at Le Meurice in 1918, we’re starting our series by celebrating his fascinating life. As the hotel of artists and thinkers, it’s a wonderfully fitting tribute to follow in the footsteps of legendary artists.”

In the coming months, this exclusive programme will be expanded to include further local trails. From Monet capturing a view of the Tuileries Garden, similar to one we will share with trail guests from our exclusive rooftop viewing point, to Rodin’s sculptures that can be seen just a few steps away from our front doors.
