Dr YK Pang, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), is pleased to welcome the safe and orderly resumption of Hong Kong’s high sea cruises with Genting Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean.
Dr Pang shared, “Cruise tourism is an integral part of Hong Kong’s tourism and the resumption of high sea cruises is the first step to the recovery of the cruise sector. Therefore, the HKTB will first promote the experience of ‘Staycation at Sea’ in Hong Kong under the ‘Holiday at Home’ platform.
The Genting Dream, the flagship of Dream Cruises fleet, features accommodations in the Balcony Staterooms and the “all-inclusive, all-suite” The Palace. Offering 2- and 3-night Super Summer Seacations, the cruise will bring international experiences and themed festivities for surrounding the Japanese Festival, Oktoberfest, Night Market, Halloween, and a Nordic Christmas. Royal Caribbean’s Spectrum of the Sea, Asia’s largest and newest ship, will operate at 2- to 4- night Summer Ocean Getaways featuring the Bionic Bar, The North Star, The FlowRider surf simulator and the RipCord by iFLY, the first skydiving experience at sea.
“At the same time, the tourism board will also communicate to consumers the newly established safety and hygiene protocol as well as the anti-epidemic measures adopted by cruise lines to rebuild visitors’ confidence in travelling on cruises,” continued Dr Pang. “When cross-border travel resumes, The HKTB will then gradually market our cruise experience to Mainland and international visitor sources.”
