May 28, 2021 Events Calendar No Comments

This August, Darwin Festival 2021 plays host to not one, but two incredible live music events in the lush tropical surrounds of Darwin Amphitheatre.

From the iconic sounds of ARIA award-winning duo Flight Facilities to showcasing Australia’s top Indigenous musos at the National Indigenous Music Awards, these events are guaranteed to bring the HOT to your August nights.

On Friday 13 August, Flight Facilities jet into Darwin Festival for an epic night of live music. From their breakout track ‘Crave You’, which became the unofficial anthem for summer parties across the globe, to their latest single ‘Lights Up’ coming in at number 2 on triple j’s most played charts this week, the Flight Facilities crew have racked up over half a billion streams globally in their decade-long career creating genre-defying dancefloor classics. Now, the Australian electronic duo are bringing their electrifying new live show to the Top End backed by an incredible line up of guest vocalists and a mind-blowing visual show.

Joining Flight Facilities on the night will be two stellar support acts; portable party ensemble Confidence Man, arguably one of the hottest live acts in Australia today, and Sycco, a First Nations star on the rise star taking the scene by storm with her pop-soaked psychedelic take on neo-soul.

Australia’s most celebrated Indigenous music event, National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs), is back in 2021 with a live event and electric a line-up boasting the likes of Baker BoyMiieshaElectric FieldsKing Stingray, Dallas Woods and Kee’ahnAlice Skye and more. Taking place on Saturday 7 August, the NIMAs present a true window into the future of Australian music. Gather under the stars with special host Steven Oliver and discover the hottest new talent while celebrating Indigenous music past, present and emerging.

“The 2021 program is big and bold, and Flight Facilities set the tone for the epic party coming this August,” said Darwin Festival Artistic Director Felix Preval. “We’re excited to deliver two massive nights of live music to our Festival audience and the Darwin Amphitheatre is the perfect setting. Limber up now, there’s a lot of dancing to be done this Darwin Festival!”

Tickets to both the National Indigenous Music Awards and Flight Facilities are on sale 9am Thursday 27 May from www.darwinfestival.org.au

Darwin Festival runs Thu 5 – Sun 22 August. Over 10 shows are already on sale, with the full Festival program announced Friday 18 June.

Darwin Festival is proudly supported by the Northern Territory Government and City of Darwin. The National Indigenous Music Awards and Flight Facilities are supported by Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund – an Australian Government initiative. The NIMAs are presented by Music NT.
