2024 is finishing on a high for Great Walks of Australia, with multiple members walks receiving awards for excellence in end of year awards.
Liz O’Rourke, Great Walks of Australia Executive Officer, said it’s fantastic that walks in the collective are consistently recognised as some of Australia’s leading nature and tourism experiences in the country.
“All 13 walks in the Great Walks of Australia are designed to give hikers the very best multi-day guided walks in Australia’s most iconic and beautiful wilderness locations. Our experienced operators continue to proudly set the bar high and deliver industry leading excellence for guests, especially in eco-tourism,” Ms O’Rourke said.

Hiker favourite The Maria Island Walk, along with the newest Great Walk, Flinders Island Walking Adventure In Comfort, won Silver and Bronze respectively in Eco-Tourism at the recent Tasmanian Tourism Awards. And in the Northern Territory, Australian Walking Holidays, home of the famed Classic Larapinta Trek In Comfort, won both the Eco-Tourism and Adventure Tourism categories at the recent Brolga Awards.
Meanwhile, ever-popular Seven Peaks Walks on Lord Howe Island, NSW along with Great Walks Of Australia received a combined Runner Up award in the Best Tourism Wellness Attraction at the recent 2024 Spa and Wellness Awards.
