Capella Hotel Group is setting a new benchmark in luxury hospitality by announcing four new properties slated to open in 2025. Collaborating with world-renowned architects and designers, the group is weaving cultural authenticity into its brand ethos, offering travellers a unique blend of heritage and modernity. With openings in Taipei, Macau, Kyoto, and Osaka, Capella Hotels and Resorts and Patina Hotels & Resorts are redefining the art of luxury travel.
“Each Capella property is inspired by the soul of its destination,” remarked Cristiano Rinaldi, President of Capella Hotel Group. “Our expansion strategy reflects three key principles: selecting culturally rich destinations, collaborating with visionary designers, and maintaining an intimate scale for personalized service.”
A Legacy of Excellence
Capella Hotels and Resorts has consistently raised the bar in luxury hospitality, winning Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Brand award for two consecutive years. Capella Bangkok further elevated the brand’s global reputation by earning the title of world’s best hotel from the prestigious World’s 50 Best Hotels.
The new openings underscore the group’s commitment to its “crafted hospitality“ philosophy, fusing art, culture, and impeccable service. Here’s a closer look at these landmark properties:
Capella Taipei: A Modern Mansion by Andre Fu
Opening: Q1 2025
Capella Taipei, designed by the acclaimed Andre Fu Studio, will grace Taipei’s prestigious Dunhua North Road. The 86-key property is an urban sanctuary that embodies Fu’s “modern mansion” concept.
Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase sweeping views of Taipei 101 and the surrounding mountains, creating a harmonious connection between the indoors and the cityscape. Culinary experiences take centre stage with five innovative dining venues, including a tri-level bar designed to redefine Taipei’s gastronomic scene.
Fu’s hallmark “Relaxed Luxury” aesthetic ensures every detail, from the architecture to the interiors, evokes a sense of understated sophistication.
Capella at Galaxy Macau: A Symphony of Art and Heritage
Opening: Q2 2025
At the heart of Macau’s thriving Galaxy-integrated resort, Capella at Galaxy Macau offers an art-filled retreat crafted by Moinard Bétaille. The 93-key property harmoniously blends Macau’s lush tropical landscapes with the region’s Portuguese-Chinese heritage.
Sky Villas and radiant interiors showcase local craftsmanship while honouring Macau’s UNESCO World Heritage character. This unique fusion of art and architecture provides a new lens through which guests can experience the city’s cultural riches.
Patina Osaka: The City of Water Reimagined
Opening: Q2 2025
Patina Osaka, located near the historic Osaka Castle, is an architectural marvel that Jun Mitsui & Associates and Strickland brought to life. With 221 keys, the design is inspired by Osaka’s identity as the “City of Water.”
A grand arrival on the 20th floor offers panoramic views of Osaka Castle, setting the tone for an immersive experience that bridges past and present. The property’s signature restaurant, P72, celebrates Japan’s 72 micro-seasons, while The Listening Room by OJAS redefines leisure with cutting-edge soundscapes.
Capella Kyoto: Honoring Higashiyama Culture
Opening: Q4 2025
Nestled in Kyoto’s historic Miyagawa-chō district, Capella Kyoto is a masterpiece by Kengo Kuma & Associates and Brewin Design Office. With just 89 keys, this boutique property exemplifies cultural preservation and bespoke luxury.
Drawing inspiration from Zen Buddhism and the aesthetics of wabi-sabi, the design incorporates traditional tatami mats, serene Zen gardens, and thoughtful architectural details. The Capella Living Room is a focal point for cultural immersion, seamlessly blending public and private spaces.
“Design is an emotional journey, not just an aesthetic choice,” noted Rinaldi. “With these openings, Capella’s portfolio will expand from eight properties to twelve by the end of 2025, with ambitions to double by 2030.”
Innovation Beyond Design
Capella Hotel Group continues to innovate, recently introducing cryptocurrency payment options at flagship properties such as Capella Singapore and Patina Maldives, Fari Islands.
The group’s forward-thinking approach extends beyond its hotels, with plans to launch a branded residential development in Seoul and future properties in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Tianjin, China.
Cultural Authenticity Meets Design Excellence
Capella’s vision to bridge heritage and contemporary luxury is a testament to its commitment to creating meaningful guest experiences. By working with architectural luminaries like Andre Fu, Moinard Bétaille, Kengo Kuma, and Jun Mitsui, Capella ensures each property tells a compelling story rooted in its destination’s cultural essence.
As travellers seek experiences beyond the ordinary, Capella Hotel Group stands poised to redefine the luxury hospitality landscape.
