Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa is the ultimate destination for relaxation and rejuvenation, regardless of the season. The year-round appeal of the indoor natural mineral bathing and spa treatments is well known, however there’s a few reasons why visiting this historic bathhouse and spa in the colder months may just be the best winter getaway decision you’ve made…
1. Bathing in the blissful hot mineral waters
Each of the Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa’s baths, pools and water experiences are heated to varying temperatures to allow the body to absorb the minerals at the optimal temperature. Ranging from 34-38 degrees Celsius, guests can indulge in the pure, mineral-rich waters drawn directly from their natural source for a truly revitalising and literally warming experience. A personal favourite of many guests is immersing their lower half into the hot waters of the outdoor covered Sanctuary pool, whilst feeling at one with nature as the cold breeze floats over their upper body.
Additionally, the Aroma Steam Room, sitting at a cosy 39-40 degrees, can be used to relax sore muscles and joints, as well as improve blood circulation, ease respiratory issues and boost the immune system with aromatherapy oils.
For another heated up experience, the Hepburn Mineral Hammam is a warm room heated by hot humid air and deep warmth radiated from the seating and walls; and with peppermint scrub on hand, it’s a truly invigorating winter experience.
2. Cosying up near a fire
You’ll often find the huge fireplace crackling away in the historic Edwardian heritage listed Hepburn Pavilion, just a short walk from the bathhouse and spa.
Built in 1908, the building features magnificent stained-glass windows, a beautifully tiled floor and vaulted ceiling, making it the perfect place to snuggle up on one of the couches and enjoy a famous Devonshire Tea with freshly baked scones, house-made berry jam and double cream. Because who doesn’t want warm scones on a cold day?
And if you indulge in staying a night or two in a luxury villa on site, the instant fireplace and huge marble spa bath at your disposal creates a cosy atmosphere out of the elements which is perfect for relaxation.
3. Those hot towels…
Except for the actual massage itself where your muscles have been kneaded into soft submission on top of a heated massage bed, there’s nothing quite as good as the moment you feel that hot towel across your back and feet – heated to perfection in purpose built towel warmer boxes. It really does complete your experience and further stave off the cold winter winds outside. For a facial, of course it’s your face that gets the treat, with guests left feeling as if they are floating on a warm fluffy cloud.
4. Enjoying the fresh, crisp, country air on a bushwalk
One of the region’s gems is the Mineral Springs Reserve, accessed directly from Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa’s property. Families have enjoyed visiting the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve since the 1860’s, and generations of community members have looked after the Reserve, preserving its beauty and amenity for the enjoyment of all.
Warm up by exploring the natural wonders in the Reserve, following a meandering trail and stopping to listen to the kookaburras or squatting on a patch of grass to enjoy a picnic. And don’t forget to fill your water bottle up with the natural mineral water along the way.
