Scenic Rim Eat Local Month’s famous Winter Harvest Festival is now a FULL WEEKEND!

MARK THE DIARY FOR THE FINAL WEEKEND IN JUNE!

It is  Eat Local Month celebrated in one glorious, flavour-filled day, and in HUGE NEWS, the Winter Harvest Festival, has a new location – the stunning village of Kalbar – and it’s now just part of a FULL WEEKEND of harvest activities!

The Winter Harvest Festival is the signature event of Scenic Rim Eat Local Month, where Food Ambassador chefs join growers, producers and flavour-makers in celebrating where our food comes from. There’s demonstrations, over 60 stalls and local shops to wander (listed below FYI), tasting and sipping stations to graze, the World Famous Tractor Pull (can the butchers or the veg growers take back the title after a shock loss to a newcomer last year😱), and there’s incredible new events, flavours and faces – plus of course, Moffatt’s famous Carrot Ice Cream (did you know the Scenic Rim produces 600 million carrots a year and is the carrot capital of the country) and Carrot Tossing!

It’s a FULL WEEKEND from June 28 to 30 and an epic, flavour-filled way to end Scenic Rim Eat Local Month – here’s what’s new and what you need to know…

The new Winter Harvest Weekend kicks off with a Friday night Winter Harvest Dinner at The Roadvale Hotel hosted by Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Chef Daniel Groneberg.

On Saturday June 29 it’s the day-long Winter Harvest Festival celebrating the joy of harvest produce with over 60 stalls and featuring the legendary Tractor Pull event alongside a wonderful new experience, the Celebration of Lost Culinary Arts.

On Saturday night it’s the Harvest Hoedown featuring the region’s country music star Laura Frank, and on Sunday, 5th generation farmers Valley Pride Produce will welcome foodies to harvest fresh, seasonal goodies on their farm at Harvest with the Farmer, and The Progressive Paddock will be hosted by Scenic Rim Food Ambassador Ash Martin in the stunning grounds of the Scenic Rim Farm Shop & Cafe.

WINTER HARVEST FESTIVAL – JUNE 29 (because there’s a LOT happening here!)

  • Foodies can enjoy demonstrations and talks at the Homestead Kitchen stage featuring Scenic Rim Food Ambassadors Alison Alexander, Cameron Matthews and Josh Lopez, along with ticketed classes at The Pavilion.
  • There’ll be live music with Lyric and Silk ‘N’ Oak at the Roots & Revelry Stage and plenty for the kids to do at the Sprouts Play Patch (fun and learning about farming and nature for littlies). For the bigger kids there’s the excitement of the Junior Tractor Pull Competition!
  • The Green Gatherings Grove is the spot to sit and enjoy the delicious seasonal dishes on offer.
  • Remember to bring an empty esky (or three!), pack the kids, rally your friends, and prepare for the ultimate farm gate experience – it’s an event that simply cannot be missed!

Fresh Seasonal Produce

  • Forgotten Sound Farm – seasonal organic produce such as broccoli, cabbage, spring onions, radish, beets, carrots, Silverbeet & organic flower bunches.
  • Harry’s Paddock – produce and potted herbs and vegetables.
  • Moffatt Fresh Produce – local, fresh produce, carrot ice-cream, chutney and fudge.
  • Scenic Rim Farm Box – meet the fabulous Scenic Rim Farm Box team face to face and find out more about the Scenic Rim home delivery food service. Fresh produce from Kalfresh will be available for purchase.
