On April 5, 2024, an estimated 40,000 people will coalesce in the Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, Texas for five days of mind-blowing programming organized by legendary award winning promoter Disco Presents and experiential event producers Probably Nothing. US-based airlines expect it to be the biggest travel event in history. So many people are coming to see the total solar eclipse (the last one in North America for 20 years!) that multiple counties are declaring a state of disaster. Don’t worry though, we’ve got it under control!
The moment of totality on April 8 is undoubtedly the biggest attraction. Still, this celestial phenomenon has drawn a stellar lineup of over 400 scientists, artists, musicians, and psychedelic thinkers into its orbit—and you can see why.
Total eclipses are objects of utter fascination for eclipse chasers and other curious minds. The experience has a documented history of being profoundly emotional. Clinical psychologist Kate Russo describes the feeling of witnessing one in a group as “collective effervescence.” A survey by Yale psychology researcher Maria Monroy found that the experience of awe during the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse correlated to viewers becoming “more curious and connected…about others.”
It’s auspicious that the eclipse will cast its shadow on Texas during a particularly contentious election year. Americans are getting more polarized every day, but the Texas Eclipse Festival is bringing them together to enjoy art, dance, and be in community. Between talks by psychedelic luminaries like Paul Stamets and Rick Doblin, events with astronauts like Dr. Sian Proctor and Nicole Stott, and sets by artists like Vulfpeck and Zedd’s Dead, minds will inevitably be blown—and maybe they’ll change. Come and find out.
No matter your interest, there’s something for you at the 2024 Texas Eclipse Festival. Think of it as Burning Man meets Art Basel meets SXSW meets TED Talks at sleep away camp.
From Meow Wolf’s otherworldly art installations to Dalton Sessumes’ dances with drones, here are the top 10 things not to miss:

1. The Multiversal Dome
The Multiversal Dome is a 22nd Century testament to the achievements of humanity created by Chroma, a new art and technology studio by the founders of Obscura Digital (known for in Las Vegas). Viewers entering the Dome will be completely immersed in experiences including Android Jones’ Chimera: “An innovative blend of art and technology through an Artist-Aligned AI, creating profound and unique encounters”; Microdose VR: “Seamlessly blending art, music, and dance in real-time, virtual, and planetarium settings”; Space Battle Royale: “The first FPS game to combine space physics with non-stop action and old school retro feel”; and Samskara Multimedia Art Exhibition: “An immersive journey into the inner realms of consciousness, offering a unique exploration of self and the cosmos.”
2. Indigenous Space
The Texas Eclipse Festival is holding space for our indigenous.  The Texas Eclipse festival is situated on traditional Indigenous lands, emphasizing the significance of respecting and acknowledging this heritage. Visitors are encouraged to explore and gain insights into the rich traditions of Indigenous cultures. Eclipses have consistently carried profound significance for Indigenous communities globally, symbolizing moments of significant transition and transformation.

3. MAPS’s 38th Anniversary Psychedelic Speakers Series
The planets have literally aligned for the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies’s (MAPS) 38th Anniversary, which falls on the same day as the eclipse (April 8).
The MAPS 38th Anniversary Psychedelic Speakers Series includes two separate talks from Founder and President Rick Doblin, one discussing psychedelics and grief, the other mapping these chemicals’ impact on our chaotic, changing world.
Joining him are heavy hitters like Johns Hopkins University neuroscientist Dr. Gül Dölen, beloved mycologist Paul Stamets with Dr. Pam Kryskow, and legendary artists Alex and Allyson Grey of the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. On Friday, April 5, visionary Global Psychedelic Society co-directors Jaz Cadoch, Mike Margolies, Mareesa Stertz, and Matt Gillipsie will be in conversation with PsyTexas director Caitlyn Riley on the mind-blowing role of psychedelics in local communities. On Sunday, April 7, MAPS Director of Policy and Advocacy Ismail L. Ali, J.D. will deliver a Psychedelic State of the Union that’s sure to mark an inflection point in psychedelic culture.
Those are just a few of the speakers who will be dropping psychedelic knowledge steps away from the dance floors where Paul Oakenfold and Anna Morgan are dropping the bass.

4. Sarah Kraning – Live Painting During Eclipse
https://www.instagram.com/p/CzTVCAYOjwb/?hl=en
TikTok’s favorite synesthetic artist Sarah Kraning , whose vibrant art is inspired by sound, will capture wildlife’s response to the total eclipse on Monday, April 8 with a live-painted mural in partnership with nonprofit Re:wild,https://www.rewild.org/about-us  which was founded by a group of renowned conservation scientists together with Leonardo DiCaprio to protect and rewild at the scale and speed we need. Sarah will also be painting live in collaboration with some of the electronic music artist’s sets, which gives you something visually stimulating to watch as the set evolves. Festival-goers can donate to Re:wild to reserve prints, with proceeds supporting wildlife protection and restoration around the world! Don’t miss this colorful collaboration!
5. Meow Wolf – Gone Fishing
The Santa-Fe based art collective known for iconic multi-dimensional immersive installations likeThe House of Eternal Return is setting up a brand new, bespoke experience called Gone Fishing. Meow Wolf will orchestrate a lakeside Neo-Burlesque extravaganza in their signature mind-bending style throughout the Texas Eclipse Festival. More than a dozen performers, including fire dancers, contortionists, and even a psychic catfish, will bring a mystical je ne sais quoi to the festival grounds, inspired by the depths of Texas fishing holes. We’re hooked! If that doesn’t reel you in, I don’t know what will.
6. UNIFY – Live Group Meditation
UNIFY is an ambitious mindfulness group that organizes massively global synchronized meditation sessions and attempts to channel that energy into local community action events. Co-founder Patrick Kronfli will lead attendees in a must-feel moment of mindful meditation during totality.
7. Transformational Space Futures Panel
It’s been 56 years since astronaut William Anders captured the iconic “Earthrise” photo that changed humanity’s conception of itself within the universe. In the era of SpaceX, Blue Origin, and the James Webb Telescope, we have more information about space than ever—but what do we do with it? How do we use science, art, and culture to reimagine the future of humanity and space?
That’s what a symposium including NASA astronaut and artist Nicole Stott, SpaceX VP Kiko Dontchev, Space4Girls Chief Strategy Officer Tatiana Kazakova Tarnowski, United Planet founder Lucien Tarnowski, and International Moonbase Alliance Founder Henk Rogers (yes, the same one who brought Tetris from Russia to the West) will discuss at the Transformational Space Futures panel on Monday, April 8, just before the moment of totality.
8. Texas Eclipse Onchain
What would a decentralized village look like? A community of Web3-focused artists and technologists are coming to the Texas Eclipse Festival to find out.
Texas Eclipse Onchain aims to provide a collaborative community for visitors already plugged into the blockchain and a compelling introduction for the Web3 and crypto curious. Speakers like Lucas Campbell, Founder & CEO of Pods.Media Disco.xyz Founder & CEO Evin McMullen, Rug Radio CEO Loxley Fernandes, and Playground Studios founder Sher Chaudhary will discuss the current state of Web3. Unitea, a gamified music streaming platform that incentivizes fan loyalty, will host a slate of artists to talk about their experience on the platform. A jury of business advisors and comedians will team up to roast or toast up-and-coming entrepreneurs in a live show called “Snark Tank.”  Texas Eclipse Onchain has curated an earnest community of technologists and artists who are keeping the dream of a more decentralized internet alive.
9. MindWorks – Drone Performance
Ever seen robots dance? How about flying robots? Come and watch a light ballet in the sky as a swarm of drones buzzes around Cirque du Soleil veteran Dalton Sessumes in a stunning visual experience.
Sessumes is the director of MindWorks, a company dedicated to “the fusion of state-of-the-art technology with innovative performing arts in the pursuit of awesome.” Just watch the mesmerizing Drone Circus above to see how unmissable this performance will be.
10. Gregg Fleishman – Sky Portal X
Gregg Fleishman is an LA-based architect and furniture designer who is known for his trippy, puzzle-like geometric sculptures constructed with no metal. His is celebrated both at Burning Man and the MOMA New York Collection. Lately he’s been constructing a series called Sky Portals, pop-up installations designed to give viewers a kaleidoscopic view of the heavens, at events like the Moonrise Campout in Apple Valley, CA.
Fleishman is bringing his latest installation, Sky Portal X to the Texas Eclipse Festival for a one-of-a-kind view of the celestial alignment—a true collaboration between man, earth, and sky.
11. Musicians and Performers from Around the World
Yes, this is a “10 Things” list, but screw it, we’re cranking it up to 11.
As if it weren’t hard enough to cut the incredible panels and art installations to under a dozen, there are also over 150 musical acts, all of which are unmissable. Never before have global festival organizers like Symbiosis (California), Re:birth (Japan), Strawberry Fields (Australia), and Earth Frequency (Australia) come together to collaborate on a festival. Each of these groups is famed for putting on the best shows on their entire continents—and now they’re coming to Texans’ backyard.
Biology demands festival-goers stop dancing at some point, and physics demands that they can’t be in more than one place at once…so some of them will be inevitably missed. But with electronic music icons like Zed’s Dead, Paul Oakenfold, Tycho, Tiga, and Zenti, jam bands like Vulfpeck, The Disco Biscuits, Big Gigantic, and The String Cheese Incident, and global music acts like Fanna-Fi-Allah, Bwoy De Bhajan, and Tsuyoshi Suzuki playing from noon to dawn and beyond nearly all five days of the festival, attendees will wish they could clone themselves so they could see it all.
