Qatar Airways Selects Starlink to Enhance In-Flight ExperienceQatar Airways has taken out an outstanding eight awards at Business Traveller’s prestigious Cellars in the Sky Awards, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to excellence. The airline won Gold for its First Class Rosé and Silver for the best Business Class Cellar and Best Overall Cellar, along with Silver awards for its Business Class Red and Rosé. Bronze awards were received for Business Class White and First Class Fortified/Dessert. Additionally, the Oneworld alliance earned a Gold Medal in the Best Alliance category.

Two of the awards highlighted the excellence of Australian wines and Qatar Airways’ commitment to local produce. Notably, Penfolds Reserve Bin 28 Shiraz, 2019 from South Australia achieved a Silver Medal, while Penfolds Bin 311 Chardonnay, 2018, a multi-regional blend from Adelaide Hills, Tumbarumba, and Tasmania, earned a Bronze Medal.

Now in its 38th year, Cellars in the Sky celebrates the best business and first-class wines served by airlines. Late last year, a panel of expert judges including winemaker John Worontschak, Masters of Wine Sam Caporn and Peter McCombie, and head judge Charles Metcalfe, convened at Haberdashers’ Hall, in Smithfield, London, to select the best bottles.

Qatar Airways Regional Manager for Australia & New Zealand, Mr Justin Kestel, said: “Qatar Airways is delighted to have received this recognition by the judges. Qatar Airways currently flies to more than 170 destinations worldwide, connecting through its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport, voted by Skytrax as the ‘World’s Best Airport’ in 2021 and 2022 consecutively. In 2023, Hamad International Airport was ranked by Skytrax as the second-best airport in the world, and received the ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ accolade for the ninth time in a row, as well as ‘World’s Best Airport Shopping’.
