Singapore Airlines LogoIn a bold stride to connect continents, Singapore Airlines (SIA) is set to revolutionize air travel between the United Kingdom and Singapore. Starting in June 2024, the airline will inaugurate non-stop flights from Singapore to London’s Gatwick Airport. This move marks a significant expansion of SIA’s already robust service to London, adding to its four-times daily flights to Heathrow Airport.

The new route will see 33 weekly services to the UK capital, up from the current 28, and includes five times weekly services to Manchester Airport. This expansion reflects SIA’s commitment to enhancing its European network, boosting its regional destinations to 14.

With regulatory green lights, flight SQ310 will grace the skies on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The inaugural flight will depart Singapore for Gatwick at 2355hrs, touching down in London at 0625hrs the following day. Conversely, the return journey, SQ309, will facilitate travel from Gatwick to Singapore on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, departing at 1015hrs and arriving the next day at 0620hrs. This timing is meticulously planned to offer customers seamless connections to other SIA and Scoot flights across Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

The flights will be operated using SIA’s long-haul Airbus A350-900 aircraft, boasting 253 seats across three cabin classes: 42 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy, and 187 in Economy. This aircraft choice underscores SIA’s commitment to passenger comfort and sustainable aviation practices.

London’s Gatwick Airport emerges as an ideal gateway for travellers, not just for its proximity to the capital but also for its direct transport services to central London. Train connections link travellers to key hubs like London Blackfriars and St. Pancras International, gateways to famous tourist attractions.

Mr. Dai Haoyu, Acting Senior Vice President of Marketing Planning at Singapore Airlines, heralded the new service as a milestone. “London has always been a key market for us. This new service to Gatwick not only expands our reach but also offers additional travel options to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region,” he stated.

Echoing this sentiment, Mr Stewart Wingate, CEO of London Gatwick, emphasized the significance of this partnership. “Welcoming one of the world’s best carriers, Singapore Airlines, to Gatwick is a testament to our airport’s prestige. This new route is not just a conduit to Singapore but opens doors to wider connections in South East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand,” he remarked.

The new service also presents lucrative opportunities for business and trade, strengthening ties between the UK and Singapore. Tickets for this route will be available for sale from 19 December 2023, marking a new chapter in UK-Singapore air travel.

In summary, Singapore Airlines’ new non-stop services to London Gatwick are more than just an addition to a destination; they are a bridge linking cultures, economies, and people, fostering global connectivity in an ever-evolving world.
