Marriott International portfolio in Peru partnered with Meagan Morrison, illustrator, and the creator behind Travel Write Draw, to capture the natural beauty and rich culture of the wonderful destination. The goal of this collaboration was to inspire both Meagan’s artwork in addition to showcasing Peru as a coveted destination with plenty to offer travelers seeking experiences focused on gastronomy, adventures, nature, and wellbeing.
The collaboration began with Marriott International hosting Meagan in Peru in August 2023. This 10-day trip followed a curated itinerary, visiting the famed cities of Lima, Cusco, Paracas and Urubamba. Meagan’s travels in Peru allowed her to see a variety of destinations, engaging with the people of Peru and one-of-a-kind experiences, such as a boat tour to the Ballestas Islands, a train ride through the Sacred Valley to Machu Pichu and so much more.
“I started this year by setting a personal intention of traveling to Peru and just a few months later this partnership with Marriott International came along, allowing me the chance to paint my way through the country,” said Morrison. “Each of the resulting pieces represents five distinct experiences from my travels. From the cuisine in Lima, to the mountains of Machu Picchu and the tranquil serenity of the Sacred Valley, Peru will always have a piece of my heart.”
These lived experiences provided the research and inspiration for five hand-painted artworks that truly captured the vibrant expressions of Peru with its infinite natural beauty, rich culture, and culinary delights. This partnership culminated in an intimate gathering, held at Artesano, a new restaurant by Chef Rodrigo Fernandini featuring Northern Peruvian cuisine in Tribeca. Meagan unveiled her watercolor paintings to an eager audience of industry professionals, New York media and creators, and Marriott International’s General Managers and Area Directors of Peru. The night was filled with an exchange of art, travel, and culinary delights, inspired by the truly unique destination that is Peru.
Mariano Formariz, Marriott’s Area Director for Peru added, “Peru beckons travelers, just like it did with Meagan, with its timeless wonders and vibrant spirit. The destination is able to provide a unique fusion of ancient marvels, rich culture, and breathtaking landscapes allowing travelers to discover an unparalleled journey that transcends time.”
During Meagan’s time in Peru, she was able to understand the depth and breadth of the Marriott International portfolio in the region. Those properties include JW Marriott Hotel Lima, Sheraton Lima Historic Center, Courtyard Lima Miraflores, Fairfield Lima Miraflores, AC Hotel Lima Miraflores, The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center, Hotel Paracas, a Luxury Collection Resort, Paracas, JW Marriott El Convento Cusco, Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Cusco, and Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Valle Sagrado.
