In alignment with the Macau SAR government’s emphasis on promoting physical and mental wellbeing within the community, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, collaboratively with Women’s General Association of Macau, has extended its Feel Better Mental Wellness Programs to colleagues’ families and friends. In recognition of mental wellness as an emerging issue to be addressed in the community, as part of the programs, two special sessions of Music for Relaxation Workshops were recently hosted for around 200 Melco colleagues, friends and members of the community at Studio City.

With the objective of caring for the community’s mental wellbeing and developing a healthy home for all, the event’s speaker Ms. Wong Sin Tong, Music-therapist, Board certified (MT-BC) (US) and President of Macau Association of Music Therapists, led the sessions, helping attendees recognize the principles of music as a form of stress relief, to experience various types of music-assisted relaxation activities, and to learn to choose the right music for relaxation.

Ms. Wong Sin Tong, Music-therapist, Board certified (MT-BC) (US) and President of Macau Association of Music Therapists, said, “Music can be an effective tool for relieving stress caused by different factors such as the pandemic, work, personal or family issues. Through the seminar and activities, we hope to inform the attendees about the benefits of music and various ways to relax using music as a means, and to enhance the awareness of both mental and physical well-being for oneself, family and friends.”

After the event, workshop attendee Ms. Kwan, said, “I found the contents of today’s seminar both refreshing and meaningful. I have always known music to be good for stress but did not realize until today how it positively impacts both the mind and body in such prominent and proven ways. I think I now know how to best choose and make use of music as a tool for relaxation, especially when faced with life’s many difficulties and stressors. If I then find myself to still be troubled, I will surely seek professional help.”

Fellow workshop attendee and Melco colleague, Ms. Fely Cheng, Zone Manager, Cage, added, “It has been great to learn about the many benefits of listening to music and how it can positively impact our minds and bodies. The knowledge is going to be useful for me both in life and work. I will be sharing this beneficial information with colleagues and friends.”
