Heralding a surge in international travel, Cathay Pacific is amplifying its flight capacity between Perth and Hong Kong from the 6th of December, 2023. To cater to the burgeoning international travel demand, the airline is increasing its frequency from three to five flights a week and augmenting the capacity between the two ports by deploying larger Boeing 777-300ER aircraft instead of the Airbus A350-900.
With this move, an annual addition of 61,152 seats between Perth and Hong Kong is on the cards. It also bolsters the airline’s cargo capacity, with a whopping 4,500 tonnes of additional cargo volume forecasted.
Sandeep Pillay, the Acting Regional Head of Southwest Pacific at Cathay Pacific, expressed enthusiasm about the capacity increase. He pointed out the significant role the airline is playing in supporting Western Australia’s international aviation recovery journey.
“Cathay Pacific is entering a new phase of network rebuilding with the expansion of our Perth to Hong Kong service. The augmented connectivity from Western Australia to Hong Kong and beyond is poised to invigorate international tourism, business travel, reunions of families and friends, as well as fulfilling the growing demand for Western Australia’s exports. We eagerly anticipate hosting more passengers and delivering the unrivalled Cathay Pacific flying experience,” Pillay commented.
The enhanced services are set to be operated with the Boeing 777-300ERs. These aircraft have 294 seats, including 59 top-of-the-line fully flat Business class seats, 34 Premium Economy seats, and 201 Economy seats. Passengers can anticipate an enriched flying experience with Cathay Pacific’s award-winning inflight entertainment and superior cabin comfort.
With the flight capacity increase, flight CX170 will operate from Wednesday to Sunday every week, departing from Perth at 00:10 and touching down in Hong Kong at 07:40. Conversely, the return flight CX171 will be available from Tuesday to Saturday every week, departing from Hong Kong at 15:15 and landing in Perth at 22:50.
For those ready to embark on their next adventure, bookings are now open at Cathay Pacific or through your trusted professional travel advisor. This move signals a significant turning point in the post-pandemic recovery of international travel, establishing Cathay Pacific at the forefront of this resurgence.
Cathay Pacific’s decision to scale up operations between Perth and Hong Kong is not just a boost for the airline but also a testament to the rejuvenation of global travel and the aviation industry. It’s a beacon of optimism for travellers, businesses, and the international community, signalling brighter skies ahead.
