A new era of socially and environmentally conscious hospitality is dawning, with the Rosewood Hotel Group leading the charge. Through the recent unveiling of Rosewood Impacts, their robust group-wide initiative, the company is cementing its commitment to a more sustainable, equitable tomorrow, placing people and the planet at the centre of all its operations.
Rosewood Impacts is a comprehensive blueprint that comprises two distinct but interconnected pillars: Rosewood Empowers and Rosewood Sustains. With these initiatives, the Group aims to pioneer the future of circular hospitality while ensuring the uplifting of the communities it serves, the hallmark of its “A Sense of Place®” philosophy.
Unleashing Potential Through Rosewood Empowers

Rosewood Hotel Group is proud to announce Rosewood Impacts, a groupwide roadmap for delivering positive impact on all its communities and the planet we call home.
Rosewood Empowers champions inclusivity and growth, actively seeking talent from underserved or underrepresented groups, uplifting local economies through targeted hiring and sourcing, and fostering education and upskilling.
Rosewood Mayakoba’s partnership with Centro Educativo K’iin Beh, a non-profit school in Riviera Maya, Mexico, is a shining example of this commitment. Rosewood has supported its hotel employees and the broader community by providing necessary resources for the school’s operations, including a unique scholarship program.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the globe, the BluHouse, Rosewood Hong Kong’s unique restaurant venture, is utilizing business for a purpose. By committing 1% of its revenue to bolster neighbourhood resilience, offering employment to refugees and ethnic minorities, and collaborating with NGOs, BluHouse is working to close the opportunity gap in Hong Kong.
Steering Sustainability with Rosewood Sustains
The second pillar, Rosewood Sustains, embodies Rosewood’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. The Group aims to divert 70% of waste from landfills by 2025, reduce energy use and water consumption by 25% within the same timeline, achieve 50% carbon neutrality by 2035, and complete carbon neutrality by 2050.
A testament to this commitment is Rosewood São Paulo, the heart of the Cidade Matarazzo Complex – Brazil’s largest upcycling project. The hotel achieved a 100% sustainable energy supply in January 2023, saving an estimated 17,342 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Meanwhile, Rosewood Baha Mar is safeguarding the Bahamian marine ecosystem by partnering with The Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF). Guests can participate in the Citizen Science Program, adopting corals to plant in surrounding waters, or volunteering in local beach clean-ups.
On the Hawaiian Big Island, Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort scheduled to open this summer, exemplifies circular hospitality. The resort aims for LEED Gold Certification, is powered entirely by solar energy, and features an on-site cultural centre highlighting the area’s rich natural and cultural significance.
A Comprehensive and Holistic Approach
Mehvesh Mumtaz Ahmed, Vice President of Social Impact for Rosewood Hotel Group, explains Rosewood Impact’s comprehensive and holistic strategy. “We are committed to driving the hospitality industry’s evolution towards circularity and environmental conservation while uplifting all our communities. Our actions today have a direct impact on the long-term viability of the planet,” Ahmed says.
Undeniably, the Rosewood Impacts roadmap exemplifies how a leading hospitality company can champion sustainability and social empowerment, reshaping the industry’s future and setting new benchmarks. With the Rosewood Hotel Group at the helm, the end of hospitality looks green and inclusive.
