Gongzi Liao Fort, Keelung City, Taiwan. In the heart of Seoul, South Korea, on the 17th of June 2023, Taiwan’s picturesque port city, Keelung, is ready to take centre stage at the renowned “Look At Dongdaemun” (L.A.D.) expo. The Keelung City Government, in its ambitious effort to introduce Keelung’s astounding natural beauty and rich tourism resources to a broader international audience, mainly Koreans, has planned a compelling showcase at this event.

Recognizing the burgeoning tourism potential of the Korean market, the Keelung promotion team aims to transport expo visitors to the stunning landscapes of the city virtually. Attendees will journey through Keelung’s idyllic seascapes and mountainous terrain, featuring renowned locales such as Chaojing Park, the mesmerizing Wangyou Valley, and the vibrantly colourful houses of Chengbin Fishing Harbour. This interactive promotion will be facilitated by comprehensive materials available in Korean, making it easier for the audience to acquaint themselves with Keelung’s charm.

Adding a personal touch, the Keelung team will invite expo visitors to join the “Keelung Tourism Facebook Page.” As an appreciation gesture, participants will receive a unique wood pulp cotton souvenir adorned with the imagery of Keelung’s delightful local food, emphasizing the city’s vibrant culinary scene.

Keelung touted as one of Asia’s premier cruise ship homeports, is home to scenic attractions like the Waimushan Seaside Scenic Area, which earned its place among Taiwan’s “Top 10 Attractive Waters,” and the Heping Island Park, recognized as one of the world’s 21 most beautiful sunrise scenes. But Keelung’s allure extends beyond its natural landscapes, offering a haven for food lovers at the Miaokou Night Market. This bustling hub embodies the essence of Taiwanese cuisine, promising a gastronomical adventure for all who venture there.

The Keelung City Government’s participation at the L.A.D. expo forms part of a broader initiative to forge stronger ties with Korean tourism. They hope to turn Keelung into a household name in Korea and the world, inviting people to explore a city teeming with pleasant surprises and unforgettable experiences.

This international outreach effort by the Keelung City Government signals the city’s openness and warm welcome towards Korean tourists, encouraging them to embark on a memorable journey to one of Taiwan’s most remarkable coastal cities.
