Air France Airbus A350-900As a new era of air travel dawns, Air France is set to redefine industry standards with its upcoming Airbus A350 fleet. Combining unparalleled comfort with cutting-edge technology, the airline is preparing to deliver an extraordinary flight experience that marries luxury and innovation seamlessly.

Starting in July 2023, the Airbus A350s will join Air France’s long-haul fleet, introducing an unprecedented travel standard. The new measures, already employed on select Boeing 777-300 ERs, will be gradually rolled out across the Airbus A350 fleet.

This rollout was highlighted during the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2023 in Hamburg, Germany, where Air France offered a first glimpse at its brand-new Business seat. Touted to set the highest industry standards in comfort and onboard technology, the seats have sliding doors that allow passengers to curate a private space.

Air France Business Class Cabin

Exclusively designed for Air France by STELIA Aerospace, the new Business seat transforms into a full-flat bed of nearly two meters in length, setting a new standard of inflight comfort. Moreover, to enhance the flight experience for those travelling together, the central panel on seats in the cabin’s centre can be lowered to create a shared social space.

The Airbus A350 will feature a new cabin layout across all travel classes: 48 Business seats, 32 Premium Economy seats, and 212 Economy seats. This is part of Air France’s strategic development to continue the implementation of advanced travel standards, building upon its existing enhancements on 12 Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft.

The first Airbus A350 to feature this new cabin configuration will be the 21st of the 41 A350-900s Air France has ordered, aptly named “Aix-en-Provence”. It will make its first commercial flight in July 2023, marking a significant milestone in the history of Air France.

Each business class seat will showcase the “three Fs” concept: Full Flat, Full Access, and Full Privacy. The design of the 48 spacious seats incorporates high-quality materials, such as wool, brushed aluminium, and full-grain French leather, handpicked by Air France. The design features the company’s trademark red accent, reflecting its roots and rich history. The backlit signature winged seahorse greets customers as they board, adding a touch of elegance and warmth to their journey.

When it comes to on-board technology, Air France is leading the way. The new Business seat boasts a wide 20-inch 4K Ultra High-Definition anti-glare screen, the largest in any Business cabin across Air France’s long-haul fleet. Moreover, with the integration of Bluetooth technology, passengers can enjoy over 1,500 hours of entertainment through their personal headphones.

On the comfort front, the Premium Economy cabin features a brand-new recliner seat model developed in collaboration with Collins Aerospace. These 32 seats offer improved privacy, legroom, and comfort, with cushions extending to the shoulder level for an even softer experience.

The Economy cabin is furnished with 212 seats co-developed with Safran Seats. A smartphone or tablet holder integrated into the backrest and a USB-C port, in addition to the USB-A port, ensure passengers can comfortably utilize their personal devices throughout the flight.

All cabins will have access to Air France Connect, the company’s in-flight Wi-Fi offer. With three different types of passes, passengers can stay connected to their world throughout the flight.

As Air France continues its journey towards offering the most advanced travel standards, the Airbus A350 fleet is a testament to its commitment to delivering unmatched service and extraordinary flight experiences. These high-tech, high-comfort aircraft will undoubtedly chart a new course in air travel and set a global benchmark for the industry.
