Tripadvisor® has announced its 2023 Travelers’ Choice® Best of the Best Hotel Awards, revealing the best places to stay in Australia and around the world right now. Analysing 12 months of review data (1 January-31 December 2022) from over 1.5 million hotels, the annual Awards celebrate travellers’ favourite accommodations across 10 distinct categories: Top Hotels, All-inclusive, B&Bs, Family-friendly, Hottest New Hotels, Luxury, Out of the Ordinary, Small Hotels and two new additions for 2023 – Best Hotels for Sleep and Best Hotels with Spas.
Proving once again that Australia is home to some truly world-class hospitality, three Australian hotels have been recognised amongst the best on the planet this year. Yarra Gables in Victoria ranks No.3 in the world in the BnB category, Mount Lofty House Adelaide Hills in South Australia ranks No.24 in the world in the Small Hotels category, while Pinetrees Lodge on Lord Howe Island ranks No.25 in the world for All-inclusives. Closer to home, seven Aussie hotels have made the top 10 hotels in the South Pacific, with Pinetrees Lodge taking the title of Top Hotel in the South Pacific for 2023.
“It’s clear that our community ventured far and wide in the last year: Our 10 subcategories encompass winners from 37 regions around the world and include a wide range of amazing places to stay,” said Sarah Firshein, Head of Editorial at Tripadvisor. “As our savvy reviewers know, hotels can sometimes be the entire reason for the trip—I’m personally very excited to consult this list as I plot out the next year of vacations with my own family.”

Best Hotels with Spas: Another new subcategory for 2023, this list reveals the hotels with highly-rated spa amenities. While many hotels aim to induce zen, none succeed quite like The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, the No.1 rated Spa Hotel. This is the ‘highest’ hotel in the world, so the views alone are worth visiting the spa on the 116th floor.
Hottest New Hotels: As the hospitality industry continues to rebound, many new hotels have opened their doors, the best of which are recognised in Tripadvisor’s Hottest New Hotels for 2023. OBLU SELECT Lobigili in the Maldives secures Tripadvisor’s ‘rookie of the year’ status, ranking No.1 in the world.
Out-of-the-Ordinary Hotels: For those seeking out bucket list adventures and Instagram-worthy photo-ops, this list highlights unique stays to remember. No.1 in the world this year is Patagonia Camp in Chile, famous for offering luxury Yurt stays amongst the Patagonian wilderness.
Best Family-Friendly Hotels: Planning a family getaway can be difficult enough. To take some of the pressure out of planning, Tripadvisor spotlights the best stays offering fun stuff for kids, plus all the perks for parents. No.1 in the world is Ikos Andalusia in Spain, while Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort Fiji has taken the top spot in the South Pacific.
Best B&Bs/Inns: Great hospitality doesn’t always mean massive resorts; sometimes the best stays are a cozy bed and breakfast. The Toulson Court in England takes the No.1 spot in the world for the second year in a row. On the homefront, Yarra Gables in Victoria secures the No.1 spot in Australia and the South Pacific, as well the No.3 in the world.
