Two of Tasmania’s finest hotels, The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart, and Kittawa Lodge, today unveil a brand-new itinerary combining Hobart with Tasmania’s wild and remote King Island. A rare and extraordinary pairing, guests can take in the cultural and historic highlights of Hobart, before transferring to Launceston and flying to King Island to discover the luxury accommodation at Kittawa Lodge, nestled in pristine wilderness.

A natural alignment, both Kittawa Lodge and The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart are deeply and authentically connected to their destination. History finds meaning in both hotels’ identities, with The Tasman featuring original 1840s Georgian and 1940s Art Deco architecture, while Kittawa Lodge is built on 12,000-year-old grassy sand dunes. With these values at the forefront, both properties have come together to curate a unique and quintessentially Tasmanian experience.

The four-night package begins with one night at The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart in a premium Suite. Centrally located at Parliament Square overlooking Hobart’s historic waterfront, guests have a rare opportunity to experience three eras of design within the hotel; from walking the 200-year, history-filled hallways of the original 1840s heritage wing, admiring the understated luxury of the Art Deco building, or taking in the spectacular views of the Hobart waterfront from the glass ensconced Pavilion building. Offering 152 unique rooms and suites, each highlights a distinct character and experience so that no stay is ever the same. Guests can choose from the St. David’s Park Suite, featuring a soaring original 1840s ceiling and fireplace for a heritage inspired stay, while The Aurora Suite is the pinnacle of modern luxury, revealing panoramic views across the River Derwent from an expansive entertaining terrace.

During their stay, guests will be treated to two cocktails in Mary Mary, the hotel’s intimate craft cocktail bar and spirit library with a modernist yet authentic approach, dedicated to the discovery of exceptional local ingredients for pairing with Tasmania’s finest spirits and liquors. Guests will also experience Italian inspired cuisine with a local Tasmanian twist by renowned Tasmanian Chef Massimo Mele, at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Peppina, to the value of   $300. Valet parking, a Peppina pantry breakfast experience for two, and a complimentary mini bar add a touch of luxury to the overall experience.

“We share many synergies with Kittawa Lodge and are thrilled to be offering our guests a unique experience of Tasmania. The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart offers the perfect launch pad to discover our incredible island, connecting Hobart’s pioneering past to contemporary culture and captivating scenery, while emboldening our guests to explore the epicurean highlights of the city and wild surrounds of the island beyond,” said Stephen Morahan, General Manager of The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart.

Guests will be transported via private transfer from Hobart to Launceston. Before flying to King Island, transfers will drop guests at Stillwater Restaurant for lunch. A specially curated menu devised by chef Craig Will, lunch will include three courses and a glass of Tasmanian wine on arrival. Guests will then be transported to Launceston airport for the final leg of the itinerary.

A short flight from Launceston, King Island is as beautiful as it is diverse, consisting of rugged coastlines and picturesque beaches. Kittawa Lodge is situated on a secluded ocean-front 96-acre property with 750 metres of coastline, private valleys, forested nooks, and natural-spring dams. Created by sea-changers, Aaron Suine and Nick Stead, Kittawa Lodge has solidified its position as one of Australia’s best luxury accommodation offerings.

“Kittawa Lodge is thrilled to be partnering with The Tasman. After guests have been treated to a luxury city experience in Hobart, they have a chance to see a very different side to Tasmania. King Island is so wild and remote you really feel like you are the only person at Kittawa Lodge. We encourage guests to switch off, relax and unwind, enjoying a truly memorable experience that has been carefully considered and curated,” said Aaron Suine, Owner, Kittawa Lodge.

The luxury itinerary includes three nights in a one-bedroom lodge, inclusive of all lunches, dinners and breakfast provisions. Architecturally designed to maximise natural light and a connection to the outdoor, guests are welcomed into the lodges that boast soaring floor-to-ceiling glass walls showcasing panoramic views of the coastline. The location of each lodge has been carefully selected, couched in an intimate valley within the coastal dunes, ensuring guests enjoy complete privacy.

Supporting locally owned and operated small businesses on King Island and across Tasmania, every aspect of the Kittawa Lodge experience has been carefully considered and curated. Guests will be treated to a welcome cheese and charcuterie board, light lunch prepared daily (to be enjoyed in the lodge or packed in a picnic hamper), three-course dinner served by a private cook on two evenings in the lodge, gourmet platter of provisions (comprising of King Island lamb, native salt bush and seasonal vegetables) on one evening, $250 in-lodge bar credit, car hire in an AWD, and a take-home gift – the exclusive Kittawa Lodge scented candle, by Hobart-based perfumer, The Raconteur.
