Representatives of New Zealand’s World of WearableArt (WOW) – a combination of the world’s leading wearable art competition and a spectacular stage show held in Wellington, New Zealand – were among the most noticeable at the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME), held in Melbourne last week.
New Zealand had its largest-ever contingent at AIME 2023. Tourism New Zealand’s business events team was joined by 29 partners. The focus was on sustainability, with destination bureaus such as Auckland Convention Bureau, ChristchurchNZ, Destination Queenstown, and RotoruaNZ taking part, along with industry associations and providers.
The Victoria Precinct occupied the largest footprint on the show floor, including the Melbourne, Victoria Stand – the largest destination stand at AIME. Across the The Victoria Precinct were 43 exciting exhibitors showcasing the very best of the state (with 29 exhibitors across the Melbourne, Victoria Stand).
Overall at AIME, buyers from around the world returned, exhibitor space increased by 40% over the 2019 show, and 3000 AIME participants held over 12,000 meetings during the three days of the Melbourne show.
As for WOW, the World of WearableArt awards show is New Zealand’s largest theatrical production, a not-to-be-missed event for about 60,000 people as well as a coveted competition for international designers working at the cutting edge of fashion, art, design and costume, alongside students and first-time entrants.
MEANWHILE, AIME organisers have released a few links to highlights of AIME, which celebrated its 30th year in 2023.
