TravelManagers Australia’s Chief Financial Officer – Grant CampbellAfter a strong recovery in 2022, the travel industry is ready to take off in 2023. TravelManagers, an industry leader in the travel sector, is poised for success in the coming year, driven by initiatives such as the TravelManagers Customer Fund (TCF) and a well-resourced National Partnership Office team.

According to the Chief Operating Officer, Grant Campbell, 2022 has been a great year for the travel industry, with a resurgence in travel demand leading to a decisive return to profitability for TravelManagers and its personal travel managers (PTMs). This has resulted in many PTMs logging record-breaking sales for the 2022 calendar year, with the average value of sales per individual PTM increasing by more than 22% when compared with 2019.

The company’s success in 2022 is attributed to the foresight of the PTMs and the NPO team in ensuring that all areas of the business were prepared to take advantage of the revival in consumer demand. Campbell also mentions TravelManagers’ partnership with Signature Travel Network, which had an immediate impact on PTMs’ sales of premium travel products and experiences.

Training and support provided to PTMs by the Business Partnership Managers (BPMs) and the NPO team have also played a key role in TravelManagers’ success during 2022. This includes 83 supplier/operational training sessions, 1100 one-on-one meetings between BPMs and PTMs, and 215 regional and suburban cluster meetings between suppliers and PTMs. The return of the annual national conference, themed ‘Together’, was also a highlight of the year, bringing PTMs, supplier partners, and the NPO team together in Sydney.

As travel restrictions eased, PTMs quickly embraced personal travel arrangements, taking part in 107 supplier products and destination famils throughout the year. This provided them with firsthand experience of the latest travel conditions and allowed them to share fresh intelligence with the NPO and their fellow PTMs. The launch of the TCF in August 2022 was another example of TravelManagers’ commitment to its customers and has been well received by industry partners and clients alike.

TravelManagers’ successes in 2022 have been recognized at the National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA), where the company won the award for ‘Most Outstanding Mobile Advisor Network’. Three of the five finalists for the ‘Most Outstanding Mobile/Home-Based Travel Advisor’ category were PTMs of TravelManagers, with Rose Febo taking home the award, while Janelle Beucker was a finalist in the NTIA’s inaugural ‘People’s Choice award. The company was also named one of three finalists in the ‘Innovation’ category of the 2022 Mumbrella Travel Marketing Awards.

TravelManagers finished the year with back-to-back, record-breaking sales months in November and December, along with a series of well-supported supplier market days. These market days, which were well received by partner suppliers, have energized PTMs and set the stage for consolidating and capitalizing on the successes of 2022.
