The Collector room2WorldHotels announced that The Collector Hotel in the beautifully stylish Haagsche Bluf in The Hague has joined its portfolio as the second Crafted property in The Netherlands. The lifestyle boutique hotel, which opened its doors in January 2020, has been reinvigorating The Hague’s hotel industry over the past two and a half years with its collaborative design approach. It is now part of the WorldHotels Crafted collection. The hotel was awarded the prestigious EntrĂ©e Award 2021 for the best hotel in the ‘best new hotel 50-100 rooms’ category. The Collector has set the standard for its fellow WorldHotels Crafted property, Hotel Haarhuis, Arnhem, The Netherlands, which is also nominated for this prestigious award in 2022.

“Our Crafted Collection has experienced tremendous growth over the last year, and we are thrilled to welcome this stunning hotel to the collection,” said Ron Pohl, President of WorldHotels. “The future looks bright for this immersive and thriving collection, and we look forward to continuing to exceed guest and developer expectations with truly unique offerings like The Collector hotel in The Hague.”

The hotel is in the middle of the bustling centre of The Hague, on the Haagsche Bluf, and is a base camp for explorers with a nose for adventure and the unexpected. With the introduction of this new luxury lifestyle boutique hotel – full of innovative design, outstanding service and a unique catering facility – the hospitality offering in The Hague has been elevated with The Collector.

The Collector Basecamp

The Collector Basecamp

More than a hotel

“The Collector, like its guests, has a tireless curiosity for the world, the unknown, and new encounters, interesting places, cultures, and ideas. From the mix of architectural styles and historical facades of the Haagsche Bluf to the eclectic design of the rooms, our colourful art collections and delicious F&B offering, the total sums up who we are,” says Tsibo Lin, Founder of SLOK Hospitality Group. “The Collector offers more than just comfort, design, and hospitality. It is a place that surprises, invites, and encourages discovering and sharing. A basecamp where there is room for individuality, with genuine personal service and luxury that matters. The WorldHotels Crafted Collection is exactly that. An inclusive collection that captures the spirit of its destination. We share these values and look forward to working with a group that appeals to guests that crave creativity, immersive experiences and ingenuity, and a group that strives towards excellent service that can create an emotional connection.”

A hotel full of contrasts

The Collector is located behind eight monumental facades on the Haagsche Bluf, a unique courtyard in the middle of the city centre of The Hague with an eclectic mix of architectural styles. A glass walkway provides a connection between the two different buildings. The masterminds of the impressive architectural transformation process and the hotel’s interior design are Hugo Broeders of HUGO interior design and the creative team of The Collector led by Celine Lin-Chu, co-owner and Creative Director of SLOK Hospitality Group. Their premise was to combine the history of the building with vintage from the 50s and 60s, plus classic and modern luxurious design. In addition, you will find special exhibited collections in the hotel, where you can admire historical items and the most remarkable modern art objects.

The Collector roomThe lobby is the place where guests are first introduced to The Collector. The colourful contrasts, the vitrines with the exhibited collections and the vibrant atmosphere make The Collector’s basecamp the most enchanting meeting place in The Hague. Not only for hotel guests but for anyone with a nose for adventure.

“This really gives the hotel a unique and personal character. We strive to create an unforgettable experience for our guests, so each has its own fascinating collection. The magic for us is always in the unexpected,” Celine Lin-Chu.

Art rooms

The Collector has 57 rooms, ranging from comfortable rooms to suites. The all-new upper floor offers super bright rooms with first-class views over the city centre of The Hague. All hotel rooms have a unique character thanks to artworks designed by artist Julie Gondoin. The artworks are handmade and based on two classic works: a portrait of the French Duchess Elisabeth of Austria, Queen of France and an anonymous portrait of a man exhibited in the Mauritshuis in The Hague. Each artwork tells its own story and comprises an eclectic collection of small details, such as quartet games from the Royal House, different parts of Barbie dolls, cassette tapes, lips and more.

WorldHotels Crafted collection is an inclusive collection with a collective mission to showcase independent hoteliers who turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. Through design and creativity, these hotels capture the spirit of their destination and create long-lasting emotional connections with their guest. A new generation of lifestyle hotels. Each Crafted member tells its own story with its DNA. WorldHotels articulates that story and shares it with the world. WorldHotels is the curator of the hotelier’s vision and promotes individual brands that go beyond great hospitality and have a consistent narrative to share through any given art.

“We are very excited to present this beautiful property and look forward to working with the great team of The Collector”, said Stefan Dubbeling, Reginal Director of BWH Hotel Group Belgium & The Netherlands. “The Collector is exactly what our WorldHotels Crafted Collection is all about, and we are sure we will celebrate a very successful partnership”.

In joining WorldHotels, The Collector is now part of the industry-leading loyalty program, WorldHotels Rewardsâ„ . The world’s third largest hotel loyalty program offers guests exclusive access and privileges with member-only offers such as room upgrades and more.
