BESydney announced three international association bid wins with CogSci 2023, the 67th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference 2024 and The Web Conference 2025, and two incentive wins with Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad and Pru Life UK, highlighting the strong return to face-to-face business events and incentives.
In return for its pre-pandemic success as the preferred destination for top-flight financial services industry incentives to reward and motivate their top advisor and agent networks, BESydney is also delighted to announce Sydney’s selection as the host destination for the four-day, 400-delegate Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad Incentive 2022 and four-day 250-delegate Pru Life UK annual incentive out of the Philippines, both to be held in September this year.

Tourism Australia Managing Director Phillipa Harrison said the Business Events Bid Fund Program is helping to deliver a strong pipeline of international business events in Australia.
“CogSci 2023 and WebConf 2025 are two more important event wins secured for Sydney with support from the Bid Fund Program,” Ms Harrison said. And, the return of the Asian incentive market, with these two events – from Malaysia and the Philippines – joining India as a result of our pre-pandemic shift to diversify and broaden our source market base throughout the Asian region.” The Cognitive Science Society conference CogSci 2023 will run from 26-29 July and will attract more than 800 researchers from around the world who share a common goal – understanding the nature of the human mind.
CogSci 2023 and WebConf 2025 were event bids backed by Business Events Australia funding support. The conference is expected to attract 700 delegates from 53 Commonwealth countries over six days, is estimated to be worth $3.2M to the local economy and will be held at the International Convention Centre Sydney. The Conference assembles scholars, researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and end-users to envision and create the future of the Web through the lens of computer science, computational social science, economics, public policy, and Web-based applications.
The NSW Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Branch’s nomination to host the world’s largest international parliamentary gathering was endorsed recently at the association’s General Assembly in Halifax, Canada. Since 1994 the Conference has been the world’s premier forum for discussion and debate about the evolution of the Web, the standardization of its associated technologies, and the impact of those technologies on society and culture. BESydney estimates the conference will generate $2.7M in direct expenditure to the local economy.
The ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Web Conference Steering Committee has selected Sydney to host The Web Conference (WebConf) in 2025. Together, these two elite events will generate a further $2.9M in direct expenditure. WebConf 2025 is estimated to be worth $3.7M in direct expenditure. The 67th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference will be held in November 2024 during the Bicentenary year of the NSW Legislative Council.
International delegations are expected to be dominated by US attendees, where most of the Society’s membership is based. This will be the first time the event is in Australia and will be held at the International Convention Centre Sydney. Society attracts 1,000 people from around the world. The Society fosters interdisciplinary networking between researchers in Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, Anthropology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Philosophy, and Education.
