Intrepid Travel is formally relaunching Adventure.com, a digital publication that champions the transformative power of travel journalism in informing how and why we move through the world.
The platform is 100% funded by Intrepid Travel, with the simple mission to be the best travel publication for the world. Through a mix of personal essays, offbeat guides and fly-on-the-wall features, Adventure.com shines a light on a more community-friendly and climate-conscious way of exploring the world.
Since 2017, Adventure.com has been focused on the idea of using travel and adventure as a force for good—for individuals, for our environment, and for communities around the world. After a few turbulent years thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, it has never been more important to keep each other accountable for “building back better”.
The editorial team will be headed up by Oliver Pelling (AU), Meera Dattani (UK) and Lauren Steele (USA). With a wealth of experience, these seasoned journalists have reported around the world for the likes of The Guardian, Rolling Stone and more. Together they are managing a roster of almost 100 writers whose stories reach 100,000 unique eyes every month. Intrepid Travel believes that funding ethical travel journalism is a powerful way to keep climate-conscious and community-led travel top of mind.”
Leigh Barnes, Chief Marketing Officer at Intrepid Travel, says, “Storytelling has a pivotal role to play when it comes to co-creating a more responsible future for travel. We are proud to champion the transformative power of travel, and the important role travel journalism plays in informing how and why we move through the world.”
“For us, Adventure.com is a vehicle to inspire, educate and empower readers to see the world more responsibly, and build a more ethical and inclusive future for travel.”
Adventure.com will be reducing their own emissions as much as possible, and offsetting any emissions they can’t stamp out. Their carbon offset units are provided by parent company Intrepid, and are generated from activities that prevent, reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions from being released into the atmosphere.
