Event Hospitality & Entertainment (EVENT) has announced a number of General Manager appointments between April and August 2022 as a result of the continued expansion of the group.

“I’d like to congratulate each of the General Managers on their new roles, it is easy to be impressed with the high calibre of these appointments and I am looking forward to working with these leaders and their teams,” said Norman Arundel, Director of Hotels and Resorts, EVENT Hospitality and Entertainment.

  • Katie Smith appointed General Manager Rydges Canberra, her first GM role

EVENT has announced that Katie Smith will undertake her first role as General Manager at Rydges Canberra.  Katie has enjoyed an extensive and successful career with EVENT hotels over 16 years encompassing a decade at Rydges North Sydney before moving to QT Canberra in 2019.

  • Rory Bourke appointed General Manager JUCY Snooze Queenstown, his first GM role

In another first General Manager appointment, Rory Bourke has been promoted to General Manager of JUCY Snooze Queenstown. Rory’s tenure with EVT  commenced straight from school and on his journey he has worked at Rydges Wellington in various positions, including a corporate cadetship, Rydges Melbourne as Duty Manager and Rydges Wellington Airport as Front Office Manger.

  • Charlie Turnbull appointed General Manager Rydges Perth Kings Square, her first GM role

Charlie Turnbull is a success story of EVENT’s ELEVATE Accelerator program with her recent appointment to General Manager Rydges Perth Kings Square. Charlie first joined EVENT as part of the pre-opening QT Perth team and more recently held the EAM role at Esplanade Fremantle. Charlie has several years’ experience in hospitality across South East Asia before returning to Perth.

  • Caitlin Bombell appointed General Manager Rydges Darling Square Apartment Hotel, her first GM role

Caitlin Bombell joins Charlie as one of EVENT’s ELEVATE Accelerator program graduates to be successfully promoted to General Manager Rydges Darling Square Apartment Hotel.  Although she has been with EVENT just three years, Caitlin has extensive experience in hospitality both in Australia, the US and Canada.  Most recently Caitlin has worked at QT Melbourne as Director of Food and Beverage.

  • Kent Breeze appointed General Manager Rydges Rotorua, his first position with EVENT

Kent Breeze has joined EVENT, taking up the role of General Manager Rydges Rotorua.  Kent has extensive international hospitality experience and has worked as a General Manager in both Tokyo and Singapore as well as spending time in Auckland and Sydney, and was most recently with the Holiday Inn Rotorua.

  • Pawan Kumar appointed General Manager Rydges Bankstown, his first position with EVENT

Pawan Kumar has joined EVENT to take up the role of General Manager Rydges Bankstown. Although this is Panwan’s first role with EVENT, he has over 20 years’ hospitality experience, most recently as General Manager Travelodge Bankstown.

  • Jonathon Stubbs appointed General Manager The Miller Hotel (Independent Collection By EVENT)

Jonathon Stubbs has been appointed as General Manager of The Miller Hotel North Sydney, part of the Independent Collection by EVENT.  This is Jonathon’s third General Manager position during his 17-year career with EVENT, previously leading Rydges Mackay and Rydges Bankstown.
