Meliá Hotels International has appointed RM Asia Pacific Pty Ltd as the hotel group’s Global Sales Agency in Australia and New Zealand. This latest appointment signals the company’s commitment to  strengthening the Meliá brand in these important markets.

Meliá Hotels International operates more than 380 hotels (portfolio and pipeline) in over 40 countries, with many hotels located in destinations popular with Australian travellers.

“Australia is starting to ease travel restrictions on more outbound destinations,” noted Randall Lui, Executive Director of RM Asia Pacific. “In March flights opened to many Asian destinations, like Thailand where Meliá opened two new properties during the pandemic and will open one more next month. In April flights to Bali will resume and the Meliá brand has a well established presence there.”

Randall Lui is a veteran hotelier with over 40 years of experience in global sales and marketing, having worked for many years as the Asia Pacific representative for Trump Hotels, Regal Hotels International, Staywell Hospitality Group and several other well-known family brands in Asia.

“Meliá Hotels International is a family business with strong Spanish heritage and values,” said Lui. “I will be leading this new chapter offering unconditional customer support, warm hospitality, and marketing services within the Oceanic travel arena.”

One essential element that Lui plans to share more with the market is the huge strides Meliá has made when it comes to a core pillar of the brand – sustainability. Meliá has been ranked as the most sustainable hotel company in Spain and Europe every year since 2020 by the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment, the most comprehensive assessment in the world.
