Challenged to break the Guinness World Record for smashing plates with a golf ball from 21 metres, Asian Tour pros Gavin Green from Malaysia and TK Chantananuwat from Thailand fell just short at last month’s PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers, each smashing 15 of the 21 plates needed to set a new mark.

“I kinda got the feel for it and the height needed by the end, but it was really tough,” said a breathless Green, who broke his 15 plates in the allotted three minutes, during the pre-tournament challenge on the shores of the Red Sea at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, King Abdullah Economic City.

After the failure of the men to smash the world record, a handful of Ladies European Tour players will attempt to go one better when they make their World Record attempt at next week’s Aramco Saudi Ladies International (17-20 March).

With the likes of Georgia Hall, Emily Kristine Pedersen and Anne Van Dam all competing, next week’s action on the outskirts of Jeddah should be fairly unmissable – with the record-breaking attempt certainly that, too!
