Visitors are beginning to return to Tasmania and local tourism operators couldn’t be happier.
Well-known local bushwalking operator – Life’s An Adventure – is reporting a 200 per cent increase in bookings in the first four months of 2022.
“We are set to host around 240 tours this season, accommodating around 3,000 eager bushwalkers and are thrilled to see the industry bounce back after restrictions ease,” said Life’s An Adventure Director, Mark Norek.
“It is fantastic to welcome back interstate visitors whilst also seeing many Tasmanians supporting the sector.
“After two years of lockdown, Australians are keen to get back into nature and we’re thrilled to be able to show visitors what makes Tasmania such a special place.
“Visitors to Tasmania spend on average just over $2,500, so the boost in bookings is going to contribute millions to the economy. Importantly, our guests will be spending money in regional areas of Tasmania that desperately need support following the COVID outbreaks.
“The increase in bookings will also allow us to further support hundreds of local workers, from transport, supplies and accommodation, boosting the Tasmanian economy.”
