Meliá Phuket Mai Khao, a 30-suite and 70-villa resort on eight acres of Phuket’s north-western beachfront overlooking the sky-blue Andaman Sea is expected to debut in December.
Fronting Phuket’s longest stretch of sand, the resort on Mai Khao Beach is close to an array of attractions like as Sirinat National Park, Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, and Wat Phra Thong temple. Phuket International Airport is a 15-minute drive.
Authorities plan to open Thailand to fully vaccinated travellers from nations rated low risk from November 1.
Launched by Meliá Hotels International and owned by Thailand’s top residential real estate developer Phuket Villa Group, the five-star resort is part of a roll-out of the Meliá brand in key destinations across Thailand including Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok.
The new resort’s saltwater swimming pools, private villa pools, a reflection pond with sunken lounging spaces, water gardens, vertical falls and irrigation mist inspire a soothing ambience. The main design pays attention to contemporary aesthetics and traditional Thai accents.
There are 30 one-bedroom suites and 70 one-bedroom villas, all of which are modern, light-filled, and large, and can accommodate up to two parents and two children apiece. All feature outdoor baths, open-air showers, and spacious outside terraces.
The 78sqm suites are complimented by cabanas and the 85sqm one-bedroom villas offer private plunge pools. Tempur-Pedic pillows, a fit ball, and a yoga mat are included in each of the 15 “wellness villas,” in addition to an open-air Vitamin C shower, daily massages, and ultrasonic essential oil diffusers.
Meliá Phuket Mai Khao will experience a broad gastronomic scene from four restaurants. Near the beach pool with its cabanas and sun chairs, elegant Gaia Beach Club is “the place to be”. Drawing on Meliá’s Spanish origins, Gaia celebrates Spain’s legendary gastronomy by presenting Mediterranean and fusion cuisine from an open kitchen and a creative beverage selection from a long bar.
Elegant all-day dining establishment SASA specialised in Southeast Asian food. A pleasant and cosy setting filled with timber details, SASA offers casual fine dining by night. Elyxr Café sells freshly squeezed juices and locally brewed liquors.
Shaded by a broad range of natural flora, the resort’s design utilises a neutral palette of hues as a compliment to Mai Khao’s sandy shore. Its high ceilings, floor-to-roof glass panels and ornate metal screens take use of the natural surrounds and abundant of sunshine.
At 300sqm, Meliá’s trademark YHI Spa is home to five treatment rooms. In addition to its broad range of massages, facials, body scrubs and wraps, spa staff also give poolside and in-villa treatments.
The fitness centre is equipped with treadmills, ellipticals, exercise cycles, and weights machines. The kids club Kidsdom includes workshops to keep youngsters entertained.
The resort’s meeting facilities include a big ballroom and two more multi-function rooms, making it an ideal location for weddings and other special occasions. The resort’s event planners offer bespoke catering and small mindfulness classes.
