In conjunction with the International Meatless Day, Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with Malaysian Meatless Day Campaign Committee will be running an awareness campaign to encourage all its employees to pledge to go meatless on 25th November 2021. This initiative will be extended to all Berjaya Hotels & Resorts properties throughout Malaysia and overseas properties.

The meatless campaign in Malaysia was first started in 1996, and since then, the committee has been proactively promoting vegetarianism nationwide and encouraging people to take a pledge to become vegetarian. Malaysian Meatless Day Campaign Committee chairman, Dato’ Pishu Murli Hassaram said that their mission is to gather as much pledge as possible, and these pledges were collected from employees of non-governmental organizations, corporate bodies as well as individuals. “The meatless campaign in Malaysia first started in 1996 when we received some 800 pledges from Malaysians to go meatless on November 25th and that was how we got the ball rolling”, he said.

There are numerous benefits to adopting a meatless diet, in which a diet rich in plant-based food has appeared to lower the risk of heart disease, cancer (especially colon and lung), type II diabetes, hypertension and obesity. Going meatless can also benefit the environment, reversing the adverse effects of global warming and help preserve our natural bio-diversity.

In supporting this campaign, Berjaya Café is going to extend a special reward for those who pledge on 25th November 2021 to enjoy a complimentary chilled juice on top of 50% discount on main course for all diners during lunch from 12pm to 2pm. To enjoy the complimentary chilled juice, diners have to present the proof that they have pledged on going meatless via the Google pledge form and then they are entitled to enjoy the special reward.

Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur is putting their effort as well for this campaign by serving vegetarian meals at the staff café, Chatter’s Café on the 25th November 2021, to encourage and let the staff experience the tastefulness of plant-based diet. With this initiative in plan, it encourages the employees to participate and be part of this campaign.
