The reopening of international borders from November 1 brought hope for reunion and excitement to travel in the lives of Aussies. However, reopening of international borders doesn’t imply the pandemic is over. Thus, Aussies need to be utmost cautious to safeguard the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Safe travel is the need of the hour for individual and societal safety
It is great that all sectors are finally paving their ways for revival. Economies are opening up for international travel and tourism. The world is getting back to the old normal slowly and steadily.
In the journey for revival, the biggest credit goes to vaccination drives globally.
Australia is quite close to reaching its 80% target mark of full vaccination. And, as the country resumes international travel, people have begun making their long due travel plans. Aussies would be hitting different countries as the holiday season approaches.
However, with more people traveling and lesser restrictions, comes the risk of higher spread of the virus. The pandemic isn’t over yet and neither should travellers behave carelessly. Taking care of the self and the society is an individual responsibility that all the Aussies are obliged to fulfil.

Pre-trip planning and preparations
This time, planning and preparations are even more important. Under pre-trip preparations, the most important thing is to get an international vaccine certificate. Some countries require a negative RT-PCR report despite being fully vaccinated. So, in that case Aussies would need a test done before departing.
Additionally, travellers would need to take care of how to protect themselves while they travel. Crossing borders implies meeting people from around the globe. Thus, varied risks of COVID-19 would be spread across. So, following safety measures is of utmost importance, like hand washing, using hand sanitiser, wearing a well-fitting face mask and social distancing.
Safety while embarking on the journey
It is always recommended to disinfect your seat first in flights. Airlines take care of all the measures; however, it is good if passengers follow their individual responsibilities. Under individual responsibility, travellers are also required to avoid unnecessary movements on flights and follow all the COVID-19 travel guidelines.
