A new report has recently revealed that crowdfunding projects are actually one of the highest contributors to new green technology, with sites including Indiegogo having raised $78 million dollars alone in sustainable projects.
As part of their Crowdfunding Report, the broadband team at Uswitch have rounded up eight sustainable technology projects that made over £100,000 on some of the biggest crowdfunding sites.
Here are 8 projects that you can get your hands on or even donate to in order to make your life that little bit greener:
Lomi – Compost System – £5,195,571 Raised
Launched on Indiegogo, Lomi is the first biodegradable compost system that is able to turn your waste into nutrient-rich soil. But that’s not all it does, the system decomposes plastics too.
The new technology has proved popular among donors, with a total of £5,195,571 raised in total so far on Indiegogo, and it’s expected to start shipping at the end of 2021.
2. Nebia Shower – A Shower That Uses 70% Less Water – £2,279,093 Raised
If you are looking to up your shower game in a more eco-friendly way, then why not try a new experience with Nebia’s Mist Shower Head.

3. Chopbox – The World’s First Smart Chopping Board – £1,308,614 Raised
Cooking in the kitchen just got that little bit easier with Chopbox. As the world’s first smart chopping board, this gadget has five cooking appliances in one including a knife sharpener, and weighing scales.
The project managed to raise over £1,000,000 on Kickstarter and even has a UVC light to sanitise your knife in between use so that you can always cook germ-free.
4. O Garden Smart – Indoor Garden – £746,910 Raised
Also weighing into the green tech revolution is O Garden Smart, a new and clever way to grow fruit and vegetables indoors without the need for pots or soil.
Created by Pierre Nibart, O Garden Smart has the ability to grow a substantial amount of produce that most gardening systems lack. All you need to do is plant your seed, make sure there is enough water in your tank and let the sustainable tech do the rest of the work for you.
5. Briiv – Air Filter – £698,771 Raised
Do you want an air filter that is sustainable and cuts back on your energy bills? The Briiv Air Filter is the perfect new device that is small but mighty and uses 100% renewable energy to fill the air in your home.
Started on Indiegogo, the green tech has managed to raise a total of £698,000 from backers and is now in the production stages of development – meaning it won’t be long until you can get your hands on the sustainable and biodegradable product.
6. Generark – Back-Up Power Generator – £612,446 Raised
Everyone’s worst home nightmare is running out of electricity or the power going out when we are subjected to extreme weather conditions, but with Generark you no longer have to worry.
Traditional backup generators usually run on gasoline, but this new invention is run entirely on batteries and can even power your appliances and electrical items for up to seven days. So if you are looking for that backup power source that you can rely on, Generark is a great solution.
7. The Homebase Eco-System – Wireless Charging Shelf – £438,451 Raised
Solgaard made their name a while back with their backpack and suitcases that made your life more organised and easy. Now the company has gone a step further with the release of the Homebase Eco System and Speaker.
