La Maison 1888, the celebrated French restaurant at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort which is overseen by culinary icon Pierre Gagnaire, has been honored for its outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2021 Restaurant Awards. The annual program recognizes restaurants around the world as a top destination for wine lovers.
“We are deeply honored to receive Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence for the fourth consecutive year. At La Maison 1888, we have made a commitment to deliver unsurpassed gastronomic experiences. Our sommelier is on hand to help every guest select the perfect wine to complement Pierre Gagnaire’s remarkable culinary creations. I would like to thank Wine Spectator for recognizing our dedication to epicurean excellence,” said Seif Hamdy, General Manager, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
“In this year’s Restaurant Awards issue, we reflect on how restaurateurs navigated this incredibly difficult period, and look ahead, with every indication that the coming year will be one of the most promising in decades for an industry we all love. It’s been a long road back, and it feels wonderful to celebrate restaurants and all they bring to the world of wine,” said Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator.
Wine Spectator began its program to recognize the world’s best wine lists in 1981. There are three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award—with 1,673; 1,141; and 103 winners this year in each respective category.
Maison 1888 has won the Best of Award of Excellence in Wine Spectator’s 2021 Restaurant Awards. Best of Award of Excellence recipients offer extensive selections with excellent breadth across multiple regions and significant vertical depth.
With the largest restaurant wine cellar in Vietnam, La Maison 1888 features the finest wines the country has to offer. Head sommelier Raphael Gras has personally curated a collection of exceptional labels, many of which can only be found at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort. For example, La Maison 1888 holds Vietnam’s only bottles of the Henri Jayer Cros Parantoux Burgundy and Château-Grillet, which derives from the Rhône wine region of France. Other rare treasures can be discovered in the prestigious “Grandeur Collection”, including Château Lafite Rothschild 1er Grand Cru Classé, Petrus Grand Vin, Château Latour 1er Grand Cru Classé, and Château Haut Brion 1er Grand Cru Classé, alongside a wide variety of more affordable vintages, all of which can be paired perfectly with the restaurant’s exquisite cuisine.
With such an extensive selection of world-class wines on offer, it is no surprise that La Maison 1888 has received Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence every year since 2018.
